I posted these 2 questions on my thread but want to make sure that the right people see them:

glutathione or cysteine. what can anyone tell me abt them preventing toxins from getting into my milk (i dont like to call it breast milk or talk about breast feeding it seems too breast centered and weird to me.)

milk thinstle would that lessen side affects? make detox go smoother? i just reead something to that affect. i have some for my dh that i could take.

thanks for any input.

I haven't started taking it, but sonnambula mentioned glutathione to me as something that would 'protect the breastmilk' from toxins. I recall a conversation about it perhaps not being used by the body in that form though? (N-Acetyl Cysteine being more usable by the body). I plan on asking the new HCP I'm seeing tomorrow about it and will let you know if I find out anything useful!

Milk thistle will help support your liver in filtering toxins. I don't know if it would help your breastmilk specifically, but hopefully in helping the liver filter toxins it would. And you would pass some of the constituents of milk thistle to your baby through your milk, thereby helping baby's liver filter toxins, I think.

ETA: Other things to support detox/protect milk: epsom salt baths (you & baby), clay, chlorophyll... sure there are more too.

I've read different things about glutathione (reduced glutathione, specifically) and whether it helps (I've never read it's problematic) and right now I tend to think it does help (Cutler says it doesn't, I think there's been some confusion at times as to _how_ it works, maybe that's clearer now, but it's a reasonable/usual supp in ASD circles). I don't know much about NAC/cysteine, except what sonnambula has said. I haven't supplemented any amino acids, some (like glycine) have the potential to increase mobilization (maybe it's more of an issue for people like me)--I just don't know enough.

My understanding is that milk thistle doesn't increase circulating toxins (whatever's circulating in our bodies, nutrients and toxins, is what's available to transfer into our milk), it just helps our livers work better, which should, over time, slowly help reduce our circulating toxin level. Vitamin C does the same thing, it helps excrete toxins (and also helps boost glutathione levels) and will slowly bring down your circulating toxin load over time. So your bowel tolerance vitC level should slowly come down over time.

I've been having trouble reading/replying at MDC. Computer/server/other issues? Can't quite tell.

I will go back to your other thread, I skimmed already, the nutrients seemed pretty good.
