I was at a LLL conference this weekend, where I gave a talk on nursing past infancy. A mother shared that when she and her son were talking about weaning, he said that he would keep nursing until "my heart and my tummy are full at the same time."

(too bad there isn't a smiley for happy tears!)

My other kids have made great comments about breastfeeding in general in the past. Upon seeing a mom giving a bottle to a baby, my oldest (around 2 at the time) said, very loudly..."doesn't she know what her BREASTS are for???"

Same child, at around 20 months old, upon being told by a stranger that he was too old to be nursing, "No, YOU are too old!!!" :
I LOVE your kids! Good job mama!

Thanks! I've been nursing for over 10 years straight and my kids have been around mostly breastfeeding mamas, including many nursing toddlers and older... so they see it as the norm and think people who don't know that nursing is normal and doesn't have an expiration date are nuts. :

I was just thinking today that my 14 month old screeches and pulls at her 3.5 year old big brother when he nurses ... but when I'm nursing someone else's child, she comes over and strokes their hair and says, "niiiice baby mememes" and will come get me if someone's baby is crying or if a kid is hurt/crying and will lead me over and tell me "mememe (mamamilk)".:

ds2 who is nearly 3yrs was switching sides a few weeks ago and after settling back to the left side he looks up with dreamy eyes 'this num num is more precious mama' :

he also did a treasure map this year and I said to put on pics of things he wants most for this year, he did animals, friends, beach and then announced 'mama I want num nums most this year' and drew a pic to stick on :

Today, while shopping at Victoria's Secret, my DD (3) said, quite loudly, "Wow, mom, this store sure has lots of underpants and milky-cases!" (her word for bras). The salegirl just gave me a weird look.:

LOVE "milky-cases" :

DD (2 in January) and I were watching a really cool birth show tonight (it was DVR'ed)

She said "That baby got borned like me" drop: (I MIGHT have said this while watching a birth show with her nearby while pregnant with her 5 mo old brother??)

Whenever a baby was crying she'd say "Baby's crying, baby wants boo, baby wants to drink 'meek' " (her word for milk)

every so often she will also say "Zahir (baby brother) no have teeth. Zahir only drinks boo."
