Indian food

Ok, my family is seriously running out of options here. Sunday is our day to veg on the couch, eat popcorn and watch movies. Now that I am pretty sure dd#2 is reacting to corn I just can't bring myself to pop corn for dd#1 and dh and sit idly by while they enjoy. Popcorn is one of my faves and feels especially good when I am pg. Anyway, dh suggested we go to the local Indian buffet for lunch. I am so leery because we are starting to get a decent handle on dd's triggers. So, my question, is Indian food safe?? I know the workers in the restaurant were helpful in the past, but at that time my list of bad foods was shorter. Would you risk it? They are patient and would answer my questions. As I type this I know it is probably a bad idea. My list of bad foods are wheat, dairy, egg, peanuts, soy, corn, bananas, avocados, and possibly sesame and/or eggplant.

Alright, I don't even know why I am posting this, but anyway, I am sure I will learn something along with finding out that it is a bad idea And on a related note, is there any place I can eat out? Oh, add to the list of bad foods all meat/fish as I am veg. Thanks ladies for humoring me

I wouldn't chance it. Indian food is FULL of your bad foods.

We break up the lightly salted rice cakes and put it in a popcorn bowl. It makes DD2 feel included. Or puffed millet. Or puffed rice (though I like the salt on the rice cakes).

With that long a list AND vegetarian.... that's a tough one. You could still go to Outback and get a baked sweet potato (since it's good even without anything on it, whereas a white baked potato is sort of dry without anything) and 2 sides of vegetables (with no seasoning). It's not a really fun dinner but if eating out is what you want to do....

We have a vegetarian restaurant in the next town, but they rely heavily on soy, so I've never gone there.

Well, Outback isn't the type of place we would eat considering the whole lot of us are veg. Looks like we are eating in all the time for the time being. We rarely eat out (just a handful of times a year), but I feel like I am constantly preparing food and sometimes I need a break. I am not really looking forward to my dd weaning, but my best friend and I are kind of planning a weaning party where I will enjoy some old faves. It is half joke, half serious, mostly it is just something to laugh about.

Once again, thanks for the info

Mexican worked best for me when I was on a strict ED of dairy, eggs, nuts, seeds and soy. Lots of things are bean and rice based...with tomato and lettuce and olives and such to boot. Good luck! Eating out on an ED is definitely tricky....but it's great once you find even one restaurant that works for you.
