eczema and swimming pools?

Going on a mini-vacay next month and am wanting to take my 9 month old DD into the pool, but she has eczema. Would the chlorine be really bad for her skin? Anyone BTDT?

Both in myself and in my dd swimming pool water dosen't see to have a negative effect on our eczema. I rinse us off after we're done swimming and moisturize as I would after a bath.

My dd's eczema actually improves after swimming in a pool. The dry skin flakes off and her skin looks healthier. That said, it still flares up and I'm still trying to solve the mystery of the cause. Finally resorted to using 1% hydro cream and she starting scratching for the first time which has resulted in an infection, arghhh! It's important to me to treat her symptoms and make her as comfortable as I can, but I need to get to the root of the problem and the doctor doesn't have a clue.

there is actually a treatment for excema that involves bleach baths. here's info. I would just wash afterwards and moisturize as usual

Most people don't have a problem. for me (i have pretty severe eczema) If i got in a pool where the chlorine content was pretty high (i.e. my MIL's pool because they always kept the chemicals on the high side) I would itch like crazy and have to get out, but a public pool or hotel pool where they tend to keep their levels on a lower scale I was fine.

DD1 was fine with the pool water/chlorine but the added sun seemed to bring on a flare. We found that using the longer sleeved/longer legged "rash guard"/"solar safe"-style suits helped!

Pack extra of whatever lotion/soothing treatment you use and enjoy!

Ds says that the chlorine burns his eczema, but then he's let it get pretty bad -- cracks and really red scaly skin.
