What vaccine dilemma?
The science is clear: Vaccines save lives and there is NO LINK between vaccines and autism, says pediatrician TODD WOLYNN
Sunday, March 08, 2009

The vaccine-autism controversy continues, as reflected in last Sunday's front-page article in the Post-Gazette bearing the unfortunate title, "The Vaccine Dilemma."

There is no vaccine dilemma.

It's true that the number of cases of autism in the United States is on the rise, with the diagnosis applied in 2007 to 1 of every 150 children. Significant reasons appear to be improved detection, increased awareness and a broader definition of what constitutes autism.

While these explanations may not account for the entire increase in cases, science has firmly established the role that vaccines and vaccine preservatives play: NONE!

There is NO LINK between vaccines and autism.
I guess this forum can be closed and we can all stop discussing this stuff. The only concern about vaccines was autism and the good doctor says there is no link, so shush up little darlings and get your babes in to the doctor for their shots.

How patronizing!

Thank you Dr. Wolynn! (whoever you are).

Let me run out and get my ds every shot he's never had now that you said there is nothing to worry about. I guess I'll catch up myself and dh too while I'm at it.

I think I'll ask for 2 of each shot, you know, just to be sure.

: I'm so relieved to know the truth.

Dr. whatever your name is...you are so informed and clearly know everything there is to know. Thank you for doing my research and homeowrk for me. Now I can relax. Since my son is unvaxed and autism was the only concern I had about vaccines, I think I will call the ped tomorrow and set up an appt ASAP to get all caught up!

Alrighty then. I'm gonna call my doctor right away and make an appt. My unvax'd 3 year old has a lot of catching up to do--good thing those vax'es are so safe, I guess we can do 'em all at once, right?

Loved Age of Autism's response to this article:

Especially the part where they point out the hypocrisy of his conflicts of interest.

After one touchy evening that found itself in a vax/no vax discussion that my friend and her dr. relatives think that my only motivation is autism, which really sort of annoys me, but there's no way I'm going to raise the subject again...and I'm sure they just think I'm an idiot and won't raise it either.
