cloth diapers not so great

I am struggling with our cloth prefolds and thirsty covers. They are sort of tight to snappy but when they are on her they are HUGE!! DD is 2 weeks. Also they are SO hot. They get wet from her sweat. Help! i am buying disposables.
Also, I live in terror that the velcro on the covers is going to rub my sore nipples.

Congratulations on your LO!! :

Prefolds are big on such a tiny baby but, not for long, they grow sooooo fast, too fast!!

Personally, I love wool covers and fleece is really nice too but, wool might be hard to dry in HI and fleece would be too warm.

I'd probably get fitteds and go w/out a cover whenever possible. There are some really cute ones out there, I always wonder why they are so cute if most people just cover them up!

Well, I don't snappy, I pin (dritz, btw), I don't cover, I use soakers, and being huge on a two week old is normal. I use a combination of sposies that are leftover from our "meconium diapers" stock, and preemie pre-folds, while they are still ittty bitty. By four weeks, pre-folds fit so much better usually. Washcloths work too. BTW, : congrats on the babe!

I ditto the washcloth! and I would own at least one staccinator wool NB cover. Although my NB wool stash was HUGE . .. .

I agree, CDs are so huge on a newborn! But it'll get better

I tried prefold on my DS at 35 weeks when released from the NICU and had the same problems... I temporarily gave up CD b/c for me it was a stressful time and I didn't want to add to my load... just wanted to enjoy the babe.

So I'll be the devil's advocate here Don't worry about it... they'll all fall in place in a few weeks There are nice baby friendly sposies out there, 7th Gen and Earth's Best.

PS. try Lasinoh Lanolin for those sore nipples... it's the best thing to date I use

Yes, also though I recommend a medicated (herbal) balm, like Motherlove nipple cream. :
