Oceane: You're completely right. This is the first *true* LP I've had since charting (never clearly O'd before the Clomid) so I'm not even sure when to expect AF.... just have to wait it out!

I have a question: can any of you pregnant ladies still remember what a pre-conception diet looked like for you? aka describe one typical day of food to me. I'd love to hear specifics like "oatmeal with OJ" or "homemade pizza". I think I've got general guidelines down but I'd like to see if any of you ate/eat some yummy good things that I could incoporate. thanks!

and hi!

Ok this is from my food diary that I made for my midwife. I'm not 100% veg but I do eat a mostly veg diet. Also keep in mind I was about 14 weeks or so pregnant and really nauseous a lot, hence all the rice cakes, smoothies, bananas, ect. You can really tell which days I was super queasy in the morning Those three days I wasn't having a whole lot of HG issues except being queasy a lot. I usually went like a few days fine, a few days vomiting, like that.

day 1

several rice cakes
1 banana
1 cookie
1 glass rice milk
banana and strawberry smoothie with soy milk and soy protien powder
kombucha gingerade
1 large apple
miso soup
sushi
1 cup chex mix
vegan eggplant "parmesan"

day 2

1 piece whole wheat toast w/ earth balance
extra ginger brew
more eggplant "parmesan"
spinach and tomato tofu scramble
6 ounces unsweetened cranberry juice with grape juice and 6 ounces water
kombucha gingerade
more sushi
several rice cakes
ginger brew
ginger ale
banana and strawberry smoothie with rice milk and soy protien powder

day 3
rice cakes
kombucha gingerade
1 banana
garden burger w/ fries
spinach and lettuice salad with broccoli, cheese, garbanzo beans, egg and ranch dressing
honest ade organic mango "thirst quencher"
more kombucha
2 cookies
1 cup spaghetti
black bean and sweet potato burritos w/ corn, tomatoes, vegan sour cream, avocados
1 large apple

Also, a REALLY GOOD cookbook (assuming you don't have it already) is Viva Le Vegan. It incorporates other grains, flours, and hemp foods. Probably the only vegan cookbook I have without 20984083249328 soy recipes. It's ALL healthy kid friendly food and I think the author might be some kind of a genius. I am getting all sorts of new ideas from it! My diet is getting healthier by the minute. I just made the Sunflower Lentil Pie last night and I am still diggin' the Stork Muffins I made a few days ago

ETA: I don't really do anything different for my preconception diet. Basically I just try to eat a well rounded diet and get fruits/veggies/whole grains every day.

Preconception, I think I was eating pretty well, but my memory is shot, so I hardly remember what I ate this morning.

However, I probably had a smoothie most mornings, made with soy protein powder, fruit, and spinach. I was working at a place that had a cafeteria with one vegan choice, so I had that for lunch waaaaaaaay too often: a wrap filled with lettuce, pineapple, shredded carrots, some kind of bean, and avocado, usually with a piece of fruit on the side. Dinner was probably often brocolli and pasta, or veggie pizza (essentially just vegetables and olive oil on a whole wheat crust) that I made, or burritos or something simple like that.

oceane, I don't know if that helps much . . . .

Lots of vegan comfort food here... that's mostly what I ate, and what I still eat. Although I try to add more healthier things to my diet now. I can't think of specifics, but if you look at my old food blog, that I haven't updated in AGES, you can see the foods I ate: www.veganmother.blogspot.com

thanks everyone! it does help, cupcake, thank you. I needed some input I guess. I might get vive le vegan, I use veganomicon a lot now but some recipes take too much time for me to even try right now. I'd like to do a food diary but I think I might get obsessive. thanks for the idea, talula.
Lizzy, I had bookmarked your blog already

oceane, this was a typical weekday for me before I was pregnant.

breakfast: oatmeal with ground flaxseed, almond milk and berries or banana

lunch: homemade soup (lentil, split pea, or carrot/lentil/ginger), and a red pepper (steamed because according to TCM, the spleen does not like raw vegtables)

dinner: something like:

chana masala with brown rice and a green vegetable
curried lentils with above

whole wheat spaghetti with a red sauce (red lentils added for protein) and salad

Veggie stirfry with peanut sauce and cashews OR tofu served over brown rice, or quinoa.

green thai curry with tofu, redpeppers, onions, and green beans.

Snack:

popcorn or cereal with almond milk

Vcon is a great cookbook, a vegan Joy Of Cooking. It's a bit on the frufru side and not all the recipes are healthy, though they are ALL delicious! I like Viva Le Vegan a bit more even though it's smaller, it's less 'gourmet' if you will and more focused on just eating really healthy food. I'm excited to have a cookbook that teaches me how to incorporate other flours, grains I don't normally use, hemp foods, ect. Also, almost all the recipes are quick and don't require a whole lot of time and effort which I appreciate.

yeah, we really don't have time for elaborate dishes during the week now. the husband can do those on the weekends. I'll bookmark vlv and see when I actually get it. too bad the library doesn't have it...

Hey ladies, in lots of pain. Baby has moved and a nerve is pinching or something. Acupunture last night and massage therapy this morning both helped about 25% for a few hours. Trying chiro tonight.
Would cry if I wasn't at work. DD did this to me too, it lasted about 6 weeks. DS did not thak goodness although he did break my tailbone on his way out!

Oh VM, that's terrible. I hope the chiro is able to relieve your pain.
