Hoo HOO... Auntie gave us a bunch

and by a bunch I mean 80+ prefold. Turns out some of them were mine (so like nearly 40 years old) the rest were my cousin's, and my brother's (so like 18 years old)

They are in great shape, a little yellow and moth bally but I washed them up in my FL on a sani wash with a little dish det to strip them. Then dried them, all nice and white, some have some thinning threads but most (like over 70) are in GREAT shape.

Now here is the question part. My kiddos are all out of diaps but even then we did the fuzzi bunz and loved them. I just gave them away about a year ago on free cycle. This is for my former step daughter.. I am her other mother.. my mom and my aunties are going to be grandma mom's and great aunties...

So now what??? I was thinking of buying her this http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...ang=en-US&Sp=C the bumkins diaper covers. How many??? do I need to get her 15 of them, like I had with the fuzi bunz? or will four work? Are these any good?

My "other daughter" really wants to do cloth.. she saw me do it with my youngest. She is also in a fragile financial situation and has many times helped her older sister out with money for diapers... she does not want to have to go hat in hand for diaper money.. So I totally support her in doing this.

I was going to supply her with Fuzzi bunz, but these fell into my lap.

I would get Bummis covers rather than Bumkins, and you wouldn't need 15 covers, but up to 12 would be nice (she could get by on fewer, though).

I like my Mommy's Touch covers.

I've never used bumkins covers - I like Thirsties... In the smaller sizes it is nice to have around 6, once the kid is bigger, I think 4-5 is fine. That's great you're able to help her get going with cloth!

I think that looks like a fantastic deal. I have never used Bumkins. Why don't you read reviews - sometimes we like what we first get.

I would split the rpefolds between both girls. Unless one of them needs to use a laundrymat once/week for washing, I can't imagine why they would need 70+ diapers. Then you cang et your daughter a handful of FB's to go with the prefolds.

This sounds pretty reasonable to me.
5 covers per size is a nice number.

I like Nikky's covers and used the far more than all my other covers just because they were that much better.

congrats of the cool score with the auntie.

The older girl refuses to do cloth. Infact she refuses to have anything to do with me. Long story, involves me buying her a car, her allowing her suspended license, DUII abusive boyfriend to to drive the car to work, leaving her and her child stranded anyway, and us taking the car back. ... if and when she ever actually leaves the guy, the car (2007 mazda 5) is hers again. My husband and I were "lien holders" on the car, all we ever asked was that she finish high school. When she got her diploma, she would take full title of the car.... we paid insurance, and gave her 100 bucks a month on a shell card, added her a cell phone on our plan... But we are the evil, horrible, awful people... her sister thinks she is absolutely nuts.

I think I am going to split the diaps between her, with the bumkins from costco and four fuzzi's and then do the same for the women's space or the alternative high school her in town.
