Okay, tell me how in the heck is a 7-8mths pregnant woman

supposed to position herself on her back upside down on an ironing board at a slant to help a breech baby move? SERIOUSLY! Is it the scaring the bejeebus out of the mama that makes the baby turn?! :

Not to mention...am I the only one that doesn't own an ironing board? I seriously cannot see going to buy one for this b/c chances are, my fat self will break it in half in one swift movement!

And the other thing, leaning down off couch or stairs with your knees on it and front of body on the floor, etc...HOW?! I mean, I see HOW, but how the heck do you get in that position to begin with without hurting yourself?

Doing a hand stand in a pool would be a bad idea...seeing as how I cannot swim and have a huge fear of water.

I've been laying in bed thinking of these things all night as I feel my bub very solidly transverse diagnolly...thinking...I need to start doing these today. In my head, I go from giggling fits to apalled at the vision of seeing myself trying to attempt these things...pregnant or not, but being 7-8 months pregnant makes it all the more laughable!

: : Er...uh...whatever doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.

Will report back if I am stronger...or not report back if not!

I did that a few weeks ago with the ironing board. Now my ironing board doesn't stand up straight.

i am glad to hear that you think the ironing board seems impossible. i know if i tried that, the ironing board would surely fall off the couch. however, i have been pretty much doing handstands off my couch. this little one has been breech/transverse/oblique- whatever- for about a month now. no matter how i lie at night, how many hands/knees positions, no matter how many inversions i do...she is content where she is. i doubt the ironing board would make any difference. unless it really is the scare tactic working, lol! i do own one, but it never comes out of the closet.

I hear you. I did all that with DS to get him to turn. I did have a therapy pool at our gym that I used constantly to do handstands. It was nice, but having a water aversion would definitely nix that option!
I used to prop my hips up way high with pillows on the bed and "visualize".

None of it worked though, DS stayed breech. Sorry I don't have a great success story. Have you tried moxabustion?

How about the yoga pose downward facing dog? The biggest problem there is being able to hold it long enough to do any good, and if you're not used to doing it.....

Good luck!

Yeah, I would end up breaking the ironing board...lol

There's got to be another way..Hmm

may I suggest sliding off the couch

sometimes I feel the need to be upside down and I slide off the couch head first like a toddler.

Just be sure you have enough room to slide the rest of the way off and wallow around like a walrus trying to get up!

It does feel nice tho!

I am cracking up. The visuals you presented..
yeah, totally can't see myself doing any of that.
I hope that baby turns for you on its own. Maybe if we all just think really positive thoughts for you?

See...we have all wood floors...so I know either way, it's gonna hurt when I fall!

I have tried doing some of the hands and knees things on my bed.

My girls were transverse until late, I just think this one has gotten bigger and is quite comfy where he is.

Yes, moxibustion (sp?) will be an option as well as almost anything I can figure, here in a bit. For now, I'm trying whatever non-invasive things that I can that might not kill me or break my neck doing them.

Glad you all enjoyed my little bit of humor.

These do all sound hysterically funny However may i suggest Acupuncture! A friend of mine had the acupuncture that is performed to turn breech babies done at like 37-38 week and the little guy turned no problem! Sounds to me the best way to go and then I would resort to all this craziness if that didn't work I guess! I am not sure what the procedure is called, but something like amoxie bustion? good luck ladies!

See, I'm scared of needles...so acupuncture sounds crazier to me than standing on my head! Moxibustion...yeah, I know it's supposed to work, but when my midwife told me about it, she just talked about burning the sticks. Not that it actually involved acupuncture!!! EEEK ACK AND NO WAY IN HECK! Okay...it's a better choice than a c-section, though so WILL try it if need be!

I tried the ironing board and not only was it scary, it HURT my hips toooooo much.

It's possible to lie in bed and have a friend/partner ram a load of pillows under your hips to get a tilt going. That's the best I can do.

Chiropractor? Having everything just so can open things up a bit and give the baby room to stop being directionally challenged.

Good luck. Your visuals were pretty funny. I think a sense of humor is key.

I could see telling DH to ram some pillows under my bum to elevate me...and then his disappointed when he is told that it's just to help with baby positioning.

ok. so i tried the ironing board...it was no fun at all! it felt really unstable and uncomfortable. but i did it. then later, i tried the pillows under the hips. that was ok. i stacked 2 couch cushions on the floor and sat on the edge of them. i carefully leaned back onto the floor where i had a flat pillow for my back and head.

it is weird to feel the weight come out of the lower abdomen. i felt the head (or bottom) stick up between my ribs. lol!

after the hip elevation and ironing board, i rotated onto my left side for a while, then to hands and knees.

I know several people swear by the Webster technique performed by a chiropractor. Maybe that will do the trick?

Other than that - thanks for the chuckle. I guess I never thought about the logistics of an ironing board at this stage, but you're absolutely right. Just getting off the floor from a sitting position is a bit awkward these days.

My luck I wouldn't be able to move from the position and DP would see an opportunity to take full advantage!

This is all too funny!!!!

When my aunt was pregnant, my cousin was completely upside down to the point where she was in danger of rupturing her own placenta by coming out on it. This was in the eighties and my aunt already had a c/s, so it was a dangerous thing. She decided to go lay out on a speedboat and everything flipped into perfect position and perfect VBAC.

Good luck
