Allergy reaction? **Update..(.its spreading!)

DD has a large pimple or maybe a boil on her bum...its the second one this month! And now she has what looks like broken blood vessels all over her chest. Could this be a allergic reaction or something else entirely?

Is the pimple/ boil in the same spot as the previous one? My dd had a few of these for like a year actually. Her doc thought it was herpies actually. Kinda scary. We tried to cluture it 3 times, but each time the boil had already burst, so the culture was bad, or it was not herpies after all cuz they came back negative.

My DD has issues with dairy mostly, though she has allergies to many other foods too. I would start with any really acidic foods as my DD still reacts to high Ph'S with a rash, even though she is PT'ed.

no 2 diffret spots, on diffrent cheeks. Hm.....i wonder, she had oranges last week, so mabe that has something to do with it.

I was always told that they are bacterial....but it just seems weird to have 2 in the same month. Maybe its a bite of some kind....

Search this forum for "folliculitis." Kathy and I have both had dd's with the bum pimples. We think it is both bacterial and allergic, that consumption of the allergen somehow upsets the gut bacteria balance/immune system and lets the bad bacteria overgrow, causing boils/pimples.

ok now it is a full fledged rash. The largest one is the size of a dime and the rest look like inflamed any bites. And there are some all the way down on the back of her leg.

She is running a mild fever (but thats nothing new) and not sleeping well.

Could this be food related? Or something else entirely?

We are going to the dermatologist tomorrow anyways because of some new things going on with her birthmark and skin.... he will be able to tell me right?

My DD2's was diagnosed as folliculitis and she went through 2 rounds of abx. They figured it was staph. Thanks to the mamas on this board, even though she was on a rotation diet, I realized there was corn in her probiotic (corn is her worst trigger and it used to give her eczema) which I was giving her every day. After the last round of abx, it came back, a few days later I pulled the probiotic, and they stopped coming the next day and all faded, and she hasn't had them since (last Sept-Oct).

If your dermatologist is anything like our pediatrician, he will say there's no way it's a food reaction (after the first episode, when it came back, I had a gut feeling it was a food reaction, and he said he'd never seen anything like it). When I mentioned it to her regular pediatrician (same practice) at her well-baby visit last week, he said it was quite possible (he's been very supportive through all of this). So if he tells you it's folliculitis/staph it's your choice... treat with abx or try to figure out the trigger. Not sure about the broken blood vessel type thing though. Haven't seen that one in my kids (though I feel like I've seen everything else).
