stuff....

Has anyone tried buying dresses that are a size too big for you and then adding nursing openings to them?

Here's one idea I'm considering. I'd love more ideas though....

I want to buy cotton knit tank dresses in a size too big. Then I'd open up the seams at the side of the bodice and make them overlap with hidden snap closure. Then I'd make some sort of sheer fabric shrug to go over it.

What do you ladies think? More ideas?

i used to purchase my nursing wear from a woman who did just that, she take clothes and sew them to accomodate nursing. Most dresses were the type that either had a cardigan/short sleeve top on top of say a sleeveless tank style dress. She would cut the slits and serge the edges. Once you added the cardigan/sweater/s. sleeve top on top of it you couldnt tell.

I was thinking of adding a facing and then snaps. I think I'd loose about an inch in the size doing this. So it'd look fine without the jacket as well.

I'm thinking of getting two t-shirts and trying this.

I wish I knew how to follow a pattern, this looks awesome and it doesn't scream "hey, I am a nursing top!"
