The biggest thing is, when you're pulling the side wings up--PULL PULL PULL. Super tight! Cause it will loosen up once it's all done up.

I'm just curious. Do you put the pins in going sideways or up and down (or perhaps parallel or perpendicular to the baby's body)? The first video showed sideways but I'm afraid it might be easier for the diaper to loosen that way. I'm just curious on the technique others use.

Some of the pictures on this page helped me a LOT--my kid was already a year old and I'd been doing it "wrong" all that time, causing the diaper to fall off when she was coverless, which was most of the time. I put the pins in horizontally but I have to be careful to make sure it goes in and out again through the same two pieces of cloth. I'm not sure how else to describe it but I learned a lot from carefully studying the photographs towards the bottom of the page I posted above.

I do them kind of diagonal. Once I push the pin in, using my hand to protect the baby against getting poked, I really try to get as much material *in* the pin as possible before closing it, so it really has no room to loosen. This lets me get the waist nice and snug since it's already snug at the leg at that point.
