Looking for some answers to get me started on gut healing

How much Codliver oil should I give to my 12 month old?

How long should I simmer bones for lamb bone broth. I have some going right now going on 10 hours?

Should I be giving my 12 month old Vitamin C?

Can't answer re: the LO, but bone broth is usually simmered 24 to 48 hours depending on preference... I usually do the full 48 for beef and ham bones (and likely would with bison, lamb, goat as well) and 24 for poultry (I find it has a semi-burnt taste if simmered longer than that).

What do I do with it after simmering?

I let mine cool slightly and get the bones out to give to our friend with a dog. Some people strain theirs; I don't. I just put it in quart jars and use it to make rice. (about the only way I can get bone broth reliably into everyone)

I strain using cheesecloth and a metal strainer, then let it cool. If space is an issue (or you're going to take a while to use it all) you can let it cool, take off the fat (optional) and then reduce it by boiling it on the stovetop (no bones in it now, just the liquid you want to consume) and some of the water will boil off and condensed stock will remain. It freezes well like this (doesn't break pint-size mason jars, or some people put it in ice cube trays to freeze).

re: cod liver oil, I think these guidelines are reasonable
