Would you go to a CP party if the infected child...

Got it from his own vaccine?

What's your view on this?

I wouldn't go no matter how they got it.

I would wait for the natural version. I have read that the vax actually cause shingles rather than pox. That would be my only concern. Some of the other mamas know a lot more than me though.

If I particularly needed my child to get it at this time for some reason, I guess I might. I don't really trust that strain though. DD got it from a little girl who got it from her father who had shingles. I think that means it was the same CP strain that the father had as a child. OTOH, I never thought about it before, but if some strains are more prone to causing shingles, then one that has definitely caused shingles might not be the greatest bet either.

No way. I've heard that strain is much worse.

Go read the package insert for the vaccine. During one study some household contacts showed symptoms of chicken pox, but didn't seroconvert. So according to them they caught it but showed no immunity. This happened to us. My son caught the disease from the vax, my daughter caught it from him. Will either of them have long lasting immunity? I have no way of knowing. Would it even matter? I don't know that either. Right now I'm in the camp that wouldn't expose to a disease on purpose, vaccine strain or wild type.
