You know you're making a difference when.....

Sometimes, I feel like what I say goes in on ear and out the other....but we try really hard to eat well (read: healthy) here in the TF vein, and definitely using whole foods. DS (going to be 6 in June) I really getting it, I think!

Two examples: He was talking with his friends who were over, and they said they eat Coco Pebbles and AppleJacks for breakfast. He says straight out, "That's not healthy, they're full of sugar. We eat oatmeal and raisin cereal." (Ok raisin bran isn't very TF, but stilll....)

And then, grocery shopping the other day, we were watching the person in front of us. DS looks right at me and says in a rather loud voice, "They sure do get a lot of junk food, don't they mommy?" They had a week's worth of sugary cereals, powdered mashed potatoes, rice sides packets, hot dogs, HiC drinks, chips, white bread, and hamburger helper. "Shhh, honey, we don't talk about other people's foods at the grocery store." After, I told him they probably thought all of that was good food. He just looked at me like I was crazy, "why would they think that, mommy?"

I'm not saying this to slam people who just don't know that hamburger helper and margarine is bad for them--I'm just so proud of my little boy who's already learning to identify good food choices!

nice work, mama! i've recently been really proud of my toddler, too. i'm quite pleased that his limited vocabulary includes words such as "kefir" " 'bucha tea" and "stevia". We had three different birthday parties and other festivities last weekend, and he snubbed the cake at each one, insisting it "hurt his tongue", I presume because it was much sweeter than he was accustomed to. :
