leaking/repelling

i haven't had any problem with leaking/repelling until now. So I consider myself fortunate. I started making my own laundry soap, so I know that my new routine is the cause. I have used my own soap a couple of times because I forget that it isn't supposed to be used on diapers. Mostly I put a Tablespoon of borax, a Tablespoon of washing soda and a squirt of dawn (dollar store brand). Well first a noticed a distinct fishy odor, then I noticed the velour on the hemp inserts and the microfleece on the happy hempy had a blue cast. I thought my night fleece cover suddenly started bleeding, it is very dark blue. Now we have had wet sheets two mornings in a row. I tried stripping, but it didn't seem right. The directions I had said to keep rinsing until there aren't any bubbles. Well, my borax/washing soda/dawn setup doesn't have bubbles normally. Do you think it was the two washes with my laundry soap that caused this or do you think it is the borax/soda/dawn which I've done at least a dozen times. I have some simple green, could I use that instead of dawn? Would it be too harsh? I need to wash now and I have that on hand. Any suggestions would be great!

When I've had issues, usually I can fix it by turning up the hot water heater and rinsing multiple times on super super hot.

I've heard Borax can be bad for dipes, and I'm not sure about using the dish detergent, if I would be same as using Dawn, but even Dawn I wouldn't use all the time.

Here's a list of detergents and they also have a recipe to make your own that is diaper friendly; http://www.diaperjungle.com/detergent-chart.html

Good luck!
