Should we cut out wheat again?

So we cut out milk, soy, eggs, wheat, corn....things where going great. No ractions sleeping well, good moods, and healthy eliminations. So i started letting her have wheat again for a trial.....things seemd fine, ff 2 weeks, and we are having reactions again. Its taking 3 hours for her to fall asleep, she isnt eating well, fussy all of the time, she has pimples on her bottom, and waking at night, and new sensory issues.

So should i take out wheat again?

There are a few otehr factors aswell. First since things where going so well, and our Dr and my DH convinced me that yet again she was not allergic to anything and i was being crazy and withholding foods from her, i had a laps of judgment and let her have a corny dog (i know it was the dumbest thing i could have done!) and we obviously had a reaction. Then i started her on some new probiotics that say that they are allergen free. But im starting to wonder.

So what do you think? Do you think that the corny dog could have made her gut so irritated that 4 weeks later its still painful, or do you think its the probiotics or the wheat? Or something else entirely?

Oh and dd was on antibiotics for a upper respiratory infection, that she had an obvious reaction to, HYPER to the max, angry, and diarrhea. But that was like 6 weeks ago....

personally, I'd go back to what you were doing when you had the happy, sleeping, eating baby. I recorded everything (all food/all drink/all meds/all symptoms) so that the correlations were obvious (if needed to show doctor, DH, or anyone else).

yeah you are totally right, i am just having a hard time finding time correlations between food and time. It seems like sometime there are reactions withing 24 hours, and then sometimes there is no reaction...its just so confusing!

Well its another bad night! Something is going on, she has started regressing this week, she has hours where she talk jibberish, and she has seemed to forget her letters. And its another night of not sleeping. I put ther to bed at 9:30, and she is still awake humming in her bed. I dont know where to turn........or what to do to help her. We have tried the magnesium supplements, they didnt work, anyone try melatonin with a toddler?

Well i tried probiotics and did some bone broth soups, but im lost. I feel like everything im doing is makin it worse. I stopped the probiotics becasue i got them at WF and im not 100% that they are ok. And I started to think that they where correlating with her bad nights. But now i just dont know.....

How old is she? Has she had any vaxes lately? Does she eat anything with food coloring?
You need to take out her triggers before you can expect her gut to heal... it's kind of like trying to bail water out of a boat before you seal the leak- if you don't stop the water from coming in, the hole will just get bigger and bigger.

I vote yeah, cut out gluten again. It can cause silent damage, and it can build up over time. It can also make you react to other foods as the only 'symptom' of intolerance.

Wheat is evil! LOL No really it is! That is my saying now. We found out about 4-6 weeks ago ds #2 MIGHT have a wheat allergy (RAST test) and the pedi said he could still eat it. We decided to eliminate it anyway (he was already not getting dyes because of behavior reactions). So today for the first time he had REAL pizza and REAL breadsticks. O M G!!!!!!! Withing 2 hrs he was hyper, babbling (does not talk much but 4 days after no wheat he was talking and putting a few words together), making more of his noises (kinda humming ect. we say it is his soundtrack for his own little world), screaming and was part way to being the old William. Yeah that sealed it for us....wheat is evil! I would take the wheat back out of her diet.....I knew we are leaving it out of his esp after tonight.

Restlessness and nightwakening was highly correlated with wheat consumption here. It is also associated with frequent illness and URI, I just read somewhere today. Not sure where, at the moment.

It all starts with the stomach acid. Can't recall baby's age? Can you give a bit of sauerkraut juice? Water kefir? Raw goat's milk kefir, homemade with real kefir grains? I can find the posts about how it helps heal allergies. Here it is: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...s#post13420943

I'd add some whole food probiotics directly to baby, if older than 6 months. She only needs a teaspoon, a couple of times a day to get amazing benefits.

And I'd stop the wheat for at least 4 weeks and see if things improve. Then I'd consider rotating soaked wheat only on a every week or so basis, if you feel wheat is important. There are much more easily tolerated grains: quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, even spelt, Trictacale, Kamut are easier than wheat on the gut.

I assume that the recent exposure is all through breastmilk? You need the whole food probiotics to help heal your gut and improve the digestion of the proteins going to baby.

She is 2....no BM... long story.

No goats milk either....we just tried that and it was awful! There is no way im going to get any sauerkraut or keifers into her. And we do probiotics already.

Thanks

A teaspoon of kefir hides in anything easily: popsicles, in juice, in cereal, in anything liquid or cold, pudding, applesauce, fruit cup, etc.

Kefir has billions of more effective probiotics than any capsule.
