If you donate it, though, isn't the person you donate it to more likely to buy more of the same brand, thus increasing that company's sales?

I would hopefully donate it to someone already using formula. They would either refuse it because it wasn't the brand they were using, and they were brand loyal, or accept it because they dont mind switching back and forth between whatever they can get (not ideal, but people do it). I wouldn't donate to a pregnant woman, and possibly influence their choice.
