January 2ww - Page 24

chiromama - where's the smiley I need? Something with rope to restrain, maybe a straitjacket...?

6-8 days? That sounds pretty early - what's the earliest that implantation can take place? 5 days? The hCG comes from the implanted zygote (or blastycyst- sp?)...

Well, if you're up for it, if you think you'd be ok with seeing a negative, go for it - maybe you'll feel better, if the waiting is just too agonizing. It really depends on what will make you feel better during the 2-ww.

Katie - fingers crossed - hope it does turn out to be triphasic! Wow - that would be a great day to find out!

Not to pooh-pooh your excitement, but to be honest, I kind of don't like it when the test date coincides with a significant date - I've tested on Thanksgiving, on my dh's birthday, on New Year's (actually, just after)... too much pressure!

Yeah, Heavasoul, I thought 6-8 days seemed like a dream too.... since implantation can take 7-10 days. So I'm going to try and wait till at least saturday or sunday - that would be 10-11 days.
That said, I am feeling a little crappy, tired and a bit nauseous. could just be excitement....

Ok, out of my selfish need to test..... Laura, sorry AF showed... that sucks!
Kate - my fingers are crossed for you!
Lucysmama - I hope you can make it to saturday! And I hope its a BFP!
Hevasoul - thanks for your kind words, the straight jacket and good luck!!!

There is a very interesting bit on Fertility Friend about pregnancy testing. I can't find it again, but they did a study of all their charts to find out that the most common first positive HPT was 13.5 DPO. It was quite rare to get a positive test before ten days, even though the tests say they are that sensitive. Basically, it netted out (if I remember correctly) that the first day of your missed period is the right time to test for the first time.

That gives me two more days until I try again.

I wish I could find this story again, but I can't -- I love the FF service, but find the site extremely difficult to navigate.

Usually stuff like that is in the FAQs.

Thanks Adina and Melissa.... Well now I will try my best to wait until next tuesday (13 DPO) or Wednesday. Oh god, I'm going to be certifiable by then.
I hope that I'm just this nutso because this is our offical 1st month TTC, last month we missed o date. Tell me that I'm going to lighten up later (oh, well I hope there is no later)
Adina, thanks for always having the right answers!

Well, as Melissa mentioned, I got a (completely expected) BFN this morning. But I actually do feel better... like I just needed to get that out of my system. Now I am confident that I can wait till AF is late to test... I hope! AF should be here, or be missed, Friday.

Heveasoul, Lucysmama, Chiromama, Melissa, and anyone I've missed: good luck waiting, restraining, not obsessing, and testing!!

My temp is still up this morning, which makes me happy, and I still feel pretty queasy, which makes me happier still. I was up earlier than usual since we were going to the LLL meeting (I am applying to be a leader) but my mother called to beg me not to go -- there was so much snow in her area that she couldn't see across the street. We are getting slammed here in Ohio, and all my SAHM friends are losing it from cabin fever.

Back on-topic -- I felt the same way about the BFN -- glad to have done it and gotten it out of the way. I have only one HPT in the house and I don't want to waste it so I'm waiting this time.

Heveasoul, Lucysmama, Chiromama, Mabelsmama, fingers crossed for you!
Melissa, that sounds like good news... good luck!
My temp is still up, relatively speaking, but it is down from yesterday... hopefully it's not on a slow decline towards AF. I'm also having a little bit of cramping, which is probably a sign of my impending period. Oh well... maybe I'm wrong. Unfortunately I think I've convinced myself that I'm pregnant, which is bad. Ugh. Back to waiting.

Good luck to everyone else!

MabelsMama - yeah, sometimes it's all it takes to feed that testing craving and provide patience until it's (truly) time to test.

Thanks for the finger-crossings and luck!! 12 DPO, temp still up, trying to remain zen...

to everyone!!

I'm still here, still crazy. still have insomnia. Haven't slept more than 2 hrs at a time for almost 3 weeks, and I'm feeling nutso.
So today is 7DPO, and I am determined to wait unitl at least the weekend. I don't feel pregnant, well, since I've never been pregnant, I wouldn't know.. but I do feel pretty crappy. Tired, lethargic, a little nauseous, ugh. all could be related to insomnia.
My massage therapist has a technique she does with a pendulum - you ask a question, hold it over your left hand (your left side is your intuitive side) and if it swings clockwise, it's a yes, if counterclockwise - no. Well she has asked if I'm pg 4 times, and all times have been yes! Of couse, this cold just be hopefull thinking.....

Korin,
As soon as I read the technique your message therapist used with a pendant I had to go try it myself! I have to say, it's pretty amazing! I used a pendant with a stone called Shiva Lingam (for all of us trying to conceive, this stone is supposed to help conception and prevent m/c) and it was incredible how it changed direction with each question. My pendant said I wasn't pregnant this month (which I pretty much figured) but that I will be next month! So I hope this works! I hope yours was accurate as well -- can't wait to hear! Good luck to all your ladies waiting to test -- you might want to try this technique first. Thanks for sharing, Korin!

Kate, That's awesome! I hope yours is true for next month!
Maybe we've discovered an new pregnancy test

Argh!

I feel like such a shlemeil! Despite my brave words of earlier today, I was filled with nervous energy this afternoon while ds was napping so I tested again -- another BFN with the faintest possible second line if you hold it just right in the light ...:

I don't necessarily think I am not pg, but I know for a fact I just wasted another $5+ for nothing. Help me! I am losing it.
Oh Mellissa, don't be so hard on yourself - your at 12 dpo, right? And besides, a faint line.... in the middle of the day..... oh god. you have to test again tomorrow! Oh, This is exciting!! are we going to get a BFP???
I will definitely be testing on 12 dpo. Oh god, that means I have to wait 5 MORE DAYS! This is hard!
Well, while at a business meeting with 6 women I'm starting a new office with, I pendulumed (sp?) each of them, and none of them got a yes if they were pregnant, and all of our other questions came out right!..... and of course everytime I ask, it gives me a yes! it's pretty freaky... I held it over my hand and asked if my friend Molly was pregnant (she's not)... counterclockwise... I asked if Shira was pregnant (she is) and it switched... i repeated this with several women I know to be pregnant or not.... and it was right every time. Ugh... I know I'm just getting my hopes up, but heck they were already up!
I know that all I have to do is get through the morning without peeing in a cup... then the rest of the day is cake!

LOL! Yeah those midday testing urges are much easier to quell! (sp?)
Oh, Melissa, test tomorrow morning and let us know the results! A faint line is still a line! I did the pendulum thing too and it said I was pregnant... which strangely made me feel better even though I was holding it and probably making it spin clockwise!
Good luck, good luck, good luck! I'm trying to wait till Saturday to test again. That is, if AF doesn't show up first.

Tomorrow I am 11 DPO -- my chart

and the day AF is due. I am still bugging out but thank you so much for your kind words, Korin and Amanda! They really mean a lot.

I am usually a "plan for the worst, hope for the best" type person, but I am feeling SO hopeful and I know I will be terribly disappointed if things don't work out. I'm glad we're all in this together.

(I hope there is something to the new pendulum pregnancy test!)

Until tomorrow...

Hnmmm

I tested again this morning, and again there is the faintest line there -- dh had trouble seeing it. Really, it's no darker than the one yesterday. Maybe it's the cheap HPT ("Answer" brand).

So, it's not time to get out the cigars just yet -- I want to see TWO thick lines! Maybe tomorrow. But I'm feeling good
post #478 of 526
Melissa, keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!
Melissa!!! Two things:
1) they say a line is a line!
2) it takes 2-3 days for the hCG to multiply in significant numbers, so the fact that it's not darker the day after you tested should NOT be discouraging!

Fingers crossed for you! I know how you feel - last month, I had a hard time accepting a faint line as a "real" positive. (It ended up as a chemical pregnancy - a negative a few days later, with AF - but others here have had a faint line, ALWAYS followed by a darker line!!)

I'm at 13 DPO, temp still up, and still waiting till the day for AF to show has come and gone before testing.

and patience to everyone!!

melissa,
that sounds very promising to me! i've used the answer brand before, and even now looking at them (from months ago :LOL ) there's not even the teeniest, tiniest hint of an evaporation line. meanwhile, a couple of my old ept's and fact plus's do.
