7 day old bones--bone broth?

What do you think? My chicken carcass is 7 days old. I started to make the bone broth and my dh said he didn't like the smell of it. I couldn't tell a difference. It's been in the crock pot for about 12 hours now. How can I tell if it is bad? I am afraid to use it now. It smells normal to me. Thanks

well I use my nose and that's generally accurate. if it smells off, in my experience it is. (my husband called me "super sniffer" b/c I am always right about meat - I can tell from the other room if it's bad or good heh)

personally, I think chicken bones decompose pretty fast.

(for future reference, I freeze any carcasses and bones that I can't use within 2 days. that way they don't go to waste)

Ok thanks. I'm just going to ditch it. It's not worth the risk of making my family sick.
