Bum Genius and weird leaking question

I've been using BG's on my dd since birth. I'm using the 2.0's with a couple 3.0's mixed in. I've always loved them! Recently I've noticed that they are leaking through the actual outside shell...not around the legs...it's like the moisture is seeping through. She has been drinking a lot more liquids lately and I guess that could be it. But it seems to have started all at once. Could it be something that I've done to them to break the waterproof fabric down? Is there anyway to get it back?

Mine have started to do this too, not sure why as i have followed the instructions. I have heard that you can try putting them through the dryer.

I have always put mine in the dryer. It looks like our little ones aren't all that far off in age...just a couple of months apart. I've been using these for a year now. Have you been using yours since she was born? I wonder if they have a "shelf life"?

If it is leaking through all over the outside, you likely have destroyed the waterproofing somehow. Look inside the pocket and feel the inside of the shell - is it smooth and slick, or crumbly? If it is crumbly, it means the waterproofing has died. You can try contacting the manufacturer. This could have happened if you used too much bleach or dried on too high a heat.

The inside of them still seem smooth but I do have a feeling I've messed up the waterproofing on some of them. I didn't know that was possible! I do use bleach with each load to remove stains and odor. Also, my dd gets yeast rashes super easy and I do whatever I can to help get rid of that. I'll be so mad at myself if I've ruined them in just a year!

I'm having this problem, but I am sure mine is running out the legs. The pul liner is water resistant.

We only use the bum genius at night (prefolds during the day,) & I think the copious amount of diaper cream we've used has worked it's magic on the pul.
