American Idol: Top 10 - Page 3

Kris annoys me because he has this LL Cool J lip licking thing going. And with Michael it was his smile, there was something about that smile that didn't seem sincere to me.

I love love love Adam. I hear nothing screechy about his voice. I completely agree with Cara who said that she saw arterstry on that stage after Adam's performance. This man is an artist. He will be a huge star regardless whether or not he wins, bigger then Chris Daughtry. Just watch guys.

I also like Allison, Matt and Danny I think all of them have a great voice and all of them could put out an album that I could listen to. Allison reminds me of Kelly Clarkson a little bit.

Anoop has a beautiful sweet voice too, but he is lacking the star quality and originality of above mentioned singers. This is a very strong season. If Anoop was in the previous seasons, he would be one of the best.

Kris is so cute. Adorable. Simon was right, that he pulled out a Married card way too early. It's like I could hear all the teenage girls going: ooooh...he is married... (not like they had a chance, but still).

Scott - I feel sorry for Scott. None of us know what it's like to be on that stage and not seeing anything and to play piano. However, he is one of the weakest and he will go in the next couple of weeks.

Lil Rounds - yeah she's got a great voice, but she reminds me of so many previous contestants from previous seasons - LaToya, Fantasia...you name it.

Megan - I still like her. I think if she picked better songs, she would go further. I don't think she is that pretty though.

I agree with you guys - Adam is amazing. I love Allison's voice but she's so young and when she talks I just want to cringe.

What is up with the lip syncing in the group numbers?!?! It's ridiculous and a complete waste of time, IMO. They used to sing and, granted, it usually sounded awful. But the lip syncing is so ridiculous in a singing competition. Geesh.

Bigger then any of the last seasons winners.
He is going to be HUGE!

While I am not an Adam fan, I do agree that he's talented and will be very successful after the show! Just looking at this thread, he has a big fan base already! I did appreciate that he changed up his look and style this week. I enjoyed seeing him more slick and clean cut, with a simple, non-screechy song. I felt like I saw more of HIM and his actual voice, instead of just his "act".

Ok, I AM a Megan fan and am sad to say her performances have grown a bit stale for me. I love her unique voice, think she is absolutely unbelieveably gorgeous, but she doesn't change what she does from week to week. It's always the same vocal range, some happy, upbeat song. I would have liked it much better if she showed us more of what she can do. I hope she surprises us next week.

Danny, Lil, Megan, etc- it never seems to work when they do these up tempo, feel-good songs. Not just them, but across the board in other seasons, too. Somehow it just doesn't show their artistry, it's just all fluff. Still love Lil and Danny, but I'd like to hear more from them next week.

Matt G- He was GREAT! Loved his performance. The guy has music in his soul. That was the best I've seen from him and I hope he goes far. I was shocked that he was in the bottom 3!

Scott (lol, I just wrote "scoot"- freudian slip)- totally agree with the pp. What a triumph for him to be accomplishing what he has. I keep thinking of how hard it must be to keep up in those dance numbers, and find his way around on stage. It must present a new challenge for the choreographers to fit him in! The whole experience must be such a challenge, and I commend him! Just don't think he is Idol material! I'd love to get to know him IRL, he seems like a wonderful person.

Ugh, the group songs are lip synched? That's disappointing! WHy would we want to watch a singing show when they're not singing?

ETA: Oh, yeah, I noticed the weird way Kris sings with his mouth, too! Possibly endearing for some, but a distraction for me! Michael Sarver also did something strange with his smile when he sang.

Does anyone know tonight's theme? I didn't see it on the AI web site.
This is what I was able to dig up..

Quote:
So the performance show is an hour and half this week instead of two hours, and it's back on Tuesday night (the new Osbournes show debuts at 9:30). The special musical guests on Wednesday night (9 p.m.) are Season 7 winner David Cook and dance-chart sensation Lady Gaga. Cook's performance was reportedly taped a couple of weeks ago. There isn't, apparently, a mentor this week, and the theme is rumored to be "top iTunes downloads."
So not a definite answer but we'll see.

Thanks!

David Cook!

Didn't she watch last year when Jason Castro tried that?

I know, really no one should touch Bob Marley songs. LOL!

My perdiction is, Scott is going home first, then Megan.

it seems like we've been predicting Scott to go home every week- so I'm betting that's exactly what WON'T happen and it'll be another better singer who goes!

Anoop - Not bad. Not sure if he is REALLY an R and B singer like he claims, but it was alright. I like seeing and hearing him.

Megan. That was very disappointing. I expected so much more from her this week, and it was really quite boring. For the first time, I will have to say that it was annoying.

Danny - I still cannot decide if I like him or not. Mostly leaning towards not liking him. He is kind of shrill.

Allison - Once again, I was disappointed. I think what would have made it better was if she didn't try to do so much with it. It is an amazing song that didn't need the riffs, and she is an amazing artist who doesn't need to do a lot to be fantastic. And OMG. She looked ridiculous.

:Scott - How predictable. Billy Joel? Still mediocre, from beginning to end. A couple of nice strong notes here and there, but nothing exceptional. I am so ready for him to go home. He doesn't deserve to be here, on talent alone. Paula is so full of S---. "I have never been more proud of a contestant, and its not because of your challenge." I am sorry, but if you take his challenge away, he is just another cocktail lounge singer.

Matt - Pitchy to start. Interesting vibrato, I'm not sure if I dig it or not. Nice falsetto, that's where he needs to stay. Overall, boring. I agree with Simon, he was trying to be something, somebody he is not. It didn't work.

Lil - (I forgot she was a contestant until they announced her.) This is dreadful. I think Im heading out to get another glass of wine... she looks really nice, though. I nominate Lil as the #1 most over rated Idol contestant of all time. She can sing upper register, but lower register is completely out of tune. Oh, and that modulation was horrific.

:Adam - When I don't look at him, I really like him. But then I see his weird expressions and I get creeped out. Its just too theatrical. But wow, he is fantastic. I think I am sold. I don't think any other contestant can hold a candle to him. (Just so long as I am not watching him.)

:Kris - I feel bad that he has to follow up Adam. That is definitely a hard act to follow. But, that was BEAUTIFUL! Very modern. Every note in tune. And such a stunning tone. His best performance so far.

I am voting for Megan, because I am not ready to see her go yet. There has just always been something about he voice that I love. But tonight, my favorite of the night was Kris, so I am voting for him, too.

Came over to ask about Scott's disability but found out.

Thread Starter
: The Good: Adam, Danny, Kris, Allison (Adam has been better, but whatever he sings = automatic tongue bath from the judges. And they crushed Allison when I thought it was really good.)

The Mediocre: Lil, Anoop, Matt (they could do better... but the judges were way harsh on Anoop and Matt)

The Bad: Scott (the judges were way off tonight. I don't get why they loved that.)

: The Really Bad: Megan (anytime a contestant picks a song because they really, really like it: KISS OF DEATH. Even worse, when they pick a song their GRANDMA likes or their MOM likes or they used to sing with their mom when they were a kid, etc... Pick a song you can SING WELL.)

: The Unintelligible: Paula (her comments are out there...)

Paula is just too positive.

I know Matt can do better and I hope he'll get to stay.

Scott was boring. I can't believe the judges liked that.

Lil - did not like her song or her outfit/makeup.

Megan- I liked her voice this week but not the song she chose.

Danny- didn't think he was all that great either.

Adam- thought he was great!

I really hope Megan is gone tomorrow. If not her, then Scott.

Eeek. Megan needs to GO.

I Adam!!

The only other ones that stood out to me tonight were Kris and Matt.
