Know any good papaya recipes?

I like to get new fruits so DS and I can try them and today red papaya's were on sale. It was not a big hit raw neither of us liked it much and I was wondering if anyone had any good recipes so I didn't have to waste the rest of this rather large fruit. Thanks.

By red papaya, are you referring to the large Mexican papaya, or the small Hawaiian papaya? They are two different things, and IMO neither is all that tasty when it comes from a store since they were picked and shipped green. I tend to only eat papaya when I'm in Hawaii, because it has a very different flavor.

How ripe/soft is it? I'd probably use it in a Thai Green Papaya salad if it was firm enough.

I do like papaya seed dressing though, if you still have those, but if you've already cut it open I'd guess you don't.

Honestly if you didn't like it raw chances are you won't like anything else you canb do with it. Maybe a smothie.

Hmmm... maybe substitute mashed papaya pulp for pumpkin in pumpkin bread recipe? make muffins?

Your post made me wonder about this. Back home, my mom has a papaya tree. Guess what I'll be trying when I go visit her?

I don't care for it plain but LOVE LOVE it covered in lime juice . SOOOO good.

ETA make sure it's ripe and ready to eat.
