Help me with my leaky Knickernappies!

We love the Knickernappies. They fit great and are so cute. We use them with Loopy-Dos. They are a few months old. 1G. We've taken great care of them.

But they leak!!! From the inside of the thighs, then it wicks onto the clothes.

We don't remember this happening with our FBs (previous size).

It doesn't happen with our GADs - with the exact same inserts.

It doesn't happen with any of our prefolds or fitteds with all our various wraps and covers.

What are we doing wrong? I can't believe that this is normal!

TIA mamas!!

Thoughts

We use knickernappies and fuzzy bunz for our pocket diapers. I like that the knickernappies fit trimmer. However, I've noticed that the way they're sewn I have to make it a point to make sure that the fleece part is all turned to the inside. I have the older style though. Maybe this have been fixed. Make sure that you can't see any of the white fleece when the diaper is on.

My only other thought, is that because the crotch is narrower there is less to absorb where it's wettest so if your LO wets a lot at once maybe the insert can't keep up.

We have a few of those inserts and they only work in some of our diapers.. it sounds like if they are wicking from the inner thighs then maybe the insert is too thick width wise for the diaper crotch so it stretches it funny? We have that issue if we stick the loopy do inserts in some of our pockets... have you tried the knickernappies with any other insert to see what happens?

Thank you for your replies mamas!

The only other inserts we have are cotton babies and fbs, which are both too thick.

Old style knds are indeed very narrow in the crotch. I have also thought of this because the inserts are indeed pushed up to the edges in the thighs.

So, next question: what inserts should I use with my KNDs?!

TIA!!

I would do the loopy doos, but maybe try adding a MF or hemp doubler.....

have you checked to make sure the fleece isnt repelling?

No the fleece is not repelling one bit - that's the first thing
I checked.

They are so narrow that I don't think there's room for a doubler but it's worth a try, right?

Any other ideas welcome! TIA!

There are a lot of inserts out there that are contoured... I know the HH MF insert is and the joey bunz hemp, maybe try something like that?

Thank you! I will try those. Maybe the narrow crotch is why they changed the KNDs to the new style? Anyway it is worth a try with new inserts as they are unusable as is!

Any other suggestions welcome!

I have the 1G and often use GMD orange prefolds inside. Do you have any prefolds you could try in them? They might fit!

I use greenhorn narrow inserts (bamboo) from Hyena Cart and Loopy-Dos in my KNDs.

I love my KNDs during the day/under clothes, because they are the closest fit to a disposable diaper that I've found.
