Confused about microfleece.

I am confused about this fabric. Sometimes I see it recommended for diaper covers because it is so leakproof...indeed used instead of PUL. Other times I read about using microfleece as a soaker or doubler. So...is it water resistant, as in the cover, or thirsty soaker as when used as a doubler? I am looking at an auction of MaldenMills microfleece. I need to know the best way to use the fabric..as a cover or as the inner body layer to the diaper itself?

Are you sure you aren't confusing microfleece and microfiber? I know microfiber is often used for internal doublers (never up against baby's skin though!)

I admit I'm fairly fabric ignorant, though. Maybe microfleece is somehow used for both.

I think you are right. Microfiber makes a good doubler (inside the diaper, but not against the baby) and microfleece can make a good cover. Microfiber is like the cloths you can get in the auto department to dry your car or clean windows. Microfleece is like a blanket or jacket.

On closer reading of tutorials, I was indeed confusing microfleece with microfiber. I thank this forum, for the quick lesson in clearing up this misunderstanding, and the wonderful person who PM'd me to help.: Thank you.

MICROfleece can be used as a stay-dry diaper inner that wicks the moisture away from baby's skin and into the soaker (usually microFIBER). Because of this it does not make a good cover. You can use fleece as a nice cover but you will need a fleece that repels like alpine fleece or malden mills windpro etc.
