This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Not in my experience, at least in these parts. Seems strange, eh? The school my DDs went to offered a "year round" program, but the summer program was actually a series of summer camps and was not Montessori at all. The other schools here and in nearby cities were set up similarly. If your child needed year-round child care, they offered glorified day camps in the summer, but they generally weren't Montessori in nature, or at least weren't full-time Montessori, and definitely didn't have a full-time participation level.

Our school follows the same schedule as the public school system, but offers an eight-week summer camp with a three-week break between camp and the start of the new school year.
In the summer camp, they will be doing a lot of outside activities like day-trips to the museums, parks, etc. |

That's how most of the schools are around here, too. There are summer "camps" offered, and a two week break - same as many preschools or academic preschool settings.
Our school sent a letter reminding parents that they are contracted through the summer, and while it is in the contract, it's not a part I looked at closely, which is why she felt the need to "remind" us, I guess. She said that most Montessoris in the nation are year-round. It looks like it's about 50-50, though - maybe summer camps are offered, but they are not mandatory. She's got a reasonable early withdrawal policy, so I just told her that ds will not be in town for most of the summer and we hadn't planned on school. She was okay with it.
