Tooth coming through the SIDE of the gum??

My baby is 3 months old and cut her first tooth about a month ago. She also has two white bumps on her top gum, and another tooth trying to come in on her bottom...and I just noticed one more. It's near the back of her mouth...definitely feels and looks like a tooth, but it's coming out the SIDE of her gum. This freaks me out. Is it a tooth? Why would it come out the side? Should I take her to the doctor?

I was just talking to my dentist last week about babies' teeth, and she mentioned that teeth sometimes come in sideways and that it's nothing to worry about, and that it doesn't mean that the permanent teeth will be positioned that way.

It wouldn't hurt to mention it to your doctor if you're concerned or if it seems to be infected or particularly bothering your LO, though.

ETA: I just reread your post and realized that you're talking about something in the back of the mouth -- I would definitely consult your doctor about that, since they don't usually get molars until much later, around 2 years. It sounds like your LO is an early teether, but that's crazy-early for a molar!

my baby had this

it's probably an epithelial cyst. nothing to worry about an probably not a tooth.

Just thought I'd mention that I took her a dentist today and he said it actually IS a tooth! . It's been a month now since I first noticed it, and I decided to check again after she was being REALLY fussy when nursing on one side. It went from being a bump to now protruding through the gum. He said it is uncommon for this to happen, but it could be an extra tooth and it will have to be extracted when she is older and it comes out all the way. It's good to know at least.
