Smegma q- sorry, tmi

Ok, this is really TMI, but smegma...do women get smegma as well, in our "folds"? If so, it's no freaking big deal, if it is what I'm thinking of. Just rinse it off in the shower! 10 seconds of your time.

Yes, I have seen it. As you say, no big deal.

Yep, we sure do..
Sorry if it's too TMI, but I think that most will typically get it in the folds between the labia majora and labia minora. Some women also get it under the clitoral hood, as well.

We're all different down there and because of that, some women may accumulate quite a bit, others may not accumulate much or none at all. I think the determining factor isn't necessarily just a hygeine thing, but mostly genetics (labia/clitoral hood length, etc). With me, it depends on where I am in my cycle.

If we lopped off the inner labia of baby girls at birth, I bet we wouldn't get much smegma (if any), either.

And yes, it's an absolutely ridiculous reason to circumcise anyone
It happens.. and apparently, it's SUPPOSED to happen, otherwise it wouldn't happen with both sexes.

Yes we do! Actually we are more likely to have smegma than a man b/c our parts have more folds and creases.

yeah to what the pp above said. We have more folds and a huge cave that harvest all kinds of things and way more smegma than a man, yet we are not running around circumcising girls in the US.

do we get pearls? I have heard others talk about boys getting smegma pearls
post #7 of 11
A pearl forms when the smegma is trapped. I can see a woman getting one under her clitoral hood if it is close fitting and dosnt move much.

I have never seen one but I do get a lot of build up under there (way to much information ) I do not retract the hood to clean under it because that hurts tried it no thanks. That nerve bundle under there is veeeerrry sensetive for me. Soap burns like a : if it gets under there.

Yes, in infants, I would imagine, especially...

My daughter had severe labial adhesions...but was able to pee just fine so I left it alone and never consulted any dr.s'........ which at two years old, have just finally resolved on their own (without the use of premarin...)

She had very obvious smegma pearls that formed at the adhesion (where her labia were sealed)...these built up and then one day, they weren't there but her labia had separated on their own.
(Parents of infant females should also beware, as I found out while researching info about the surgical/forcible retraction of my SON, that some hospitals will also tear open labial adhesions on baby GIRLS...one nurse was explaining the have a sterile kit all set up for these incidences-and most parents aren't told...)

I'm not quite sure about adult female smegma "pearls"...???

Yes, adult women can get smegma pearls. Don't ask me how I know.

WOW! now that you mentioned it... I remember my daughters getting TON of smegma when they were tiny babies. And one of my daughters used to have adhesion and the ped insisted on trying to manually open it up when wiping, and I never did a thing! I just thought it was so wrong to do it, didn't feel right. I mean, she peed and never complaint about it, why messing with it?
