Thread Starter
I thought us lovely ladies could use an official thread for getting to know each other a little bit.

My name is Sara, I'm 26 and I am from BC, Canada and I am currently living in Washington USA. I am unable to work at the present moment but I am getting married this summer and hopefully not too long after that I can obtain citizenship here. This is our first child and it kinda came at a less than convenient time lol. I need to find a wedding dress now that will fit me in this state haha. Oh well, we are both really excited!

Your turn!!

Good idea!

I'm Cindy. Newly married, 6-22-08. I'm 30 years old. I currently work in a pharmacy and dh is a manufacturing engineer. We live north of los angeles, in the county we both were born in. So far only dh's parents and brother's family know I'm pregnant. I imagine we'll announce it officially in a couple of weeks.

This feels like a dream!

I am Amanda. I am 25 years old stay at home mom and this is my 5th baby. My husband and I have been married since 2003. We've been friends since my 6th grade year and his 7th. We even went to 11th/12th grade prom together! We have 3 little boys together and are REEEEEAAALLLY hoping for a girl this time. He just got home from his 3rd deployment on Christmas Eve and are hoping, but know it's not likely, that that was his last deployment. I am hoping for a home water birth for this baby. I plan to cloth diaper, co-sleep, and babywear again with this lil one.

Hi there! I'm Jessica, I'm nearly 29, and I'm an American expat living in Beijing. My husband is from Kunming, which is in the Southwestern part of China, and where I lived for 5 years before moving to Beijing last year. We have been married almost 3 years now and we have a 17 month old son, Dylan, who was born in Kunming in Oct. 2007, who we are raising bilingual in Mandarin and English, although we aren't always succeeding with the English part, since DH and I mostly speak Chinese at home. I'm originally from South Carolina, but I lived in Austin Texas for a long time too. Right now I'm a high school teacher, but I've done a lot of different things -- translation, consulting, managing -- over here. My husband is a musician and since he has a fairly flexible job, he's currently doing the SAHD thing while I teach.

Nice to meet you all!

I'm Brisen, I'm a 29 yo homeschooling sahm, living in a small town in eastern Ontario, Canada. We've been married 10 years; this will be our 5th. My first birth was in the hospital, and the others were homebirths with midwives, which is our plan for this one as well (assuming they're not already booked up when I call on Monday .

Melissa, how great that you could be there with your sister for her UC!

Hi!! I'm Jade, my DH is Damian. We're both 28, and live in Auckland, New Zealand. So so so happy to be pregnant, it's taken 16 months to get here, so I can't stop grinning :
I work in mental health, and this is our first baby (and first pregnancy). I'm hoping for a water birth at home, and I can just imagine how well that is going to go down with our friends and family

I just got my BFP!!!!!!!!!!

I'm Nina, 29 (soon to be 30), and my DH is Wally (age 31.) We are the proud parents of Elizabeth, a.k.a. Libby, age 2 and 1/2 and soon to be big sister. We are both WOHPs and avid cloth-diaperers, babywearers, and co-sleepers. We've been casually TTC for over a year and seriously TTC the past 5 cycles. We had a miscarriage a year ago and are really ready for this baby to stick!

I'm going for VBAC after a pretty classic unnecessary cesarean last time and hoping to get into the midwifery practice. There is pretty much only one practice (3 MW teams) within a reasonable distance and as of this month it's covered by Alberta Health Care. When it was a private service and you had to pay out of pocket, it was already hard to get in, so I am calling first thing next week and booking an appointment! You could not pay me to do the soul-destroying 5min doctor visits and delivering with someone I had never met again. I will probably still deliver in the hospital since that's how the MWs prefer to do their VBACs (they have the same hospital privileges as a family doctor.)

Hi mamas! (NAK)
My name is Ayn, I just got my BFP this am too:
I haven't even told DH yet. I didn't want him freaking out all day at work, so I plan on telling him tonight. And today is our 16th anniversary
This will be our 4th-we have 14 yo DD, an 11 yo DS (hm schooling), and 22mo DD. DD2 was a BIG (but happy) surprise. Since having her I've really wanted another, but DH not so much...he was actually just "warming up to the idea" last month but then got a big pay-cut at work (due to the economy). And then we both figured we shouldn't try...oops! too late now! It's also a bit of bad timing because of the fact that we already have 2 dec. kids, and my b-day's in dec too! oh-well! I love my little sagitarians!

I had my first 2 in the hospital with a midwife, and 3rd at the local (Tucson, AZ) Birth Center. I'm really hopeing for an H20 homebirth this time.

My name is Carrie. I live in Ottawa, Canada. I'm 38 and this will be our second : DH and I have been best friends and together since 2003.
Our first was born at home with the midwife and we plan on having our second here as well. I'm really hoping labour for this one will not be the 17 hrs I had with DS! I'm finding i'm so much more excited about this pregnancy, having already had the experience with DS and now I know what to expect!

Hi Carrie -- I'm in Ottawa, too! Well, just outside of Ottawa now.

Hello! My name is Charlene. I live just South of St. Louis Missouri, I'm 23, and counting my step kids, this will be our 6th (ages 8, 6.5, 5, nearly 3, and 14 months). The younger 4 are bio mine and the last one was born at home. We are really excited about this new baby! I am still nursing DS and DD2, so a decrease in milk supply is a concern for me. But for now, I'm just loving every minute of this!

Cool! Niagara Falls is one of my favourite places to visit. We also visited upstate NY a lot when I was a kid.

Hello!

I'm Nicole, and this will be my first. More than a little freaked out, but so very excited. I'm 31, my husband and I have been married for 8 years, and we live in SE michigan.

We're searching for the right birth plan right now, but we have access to a great midwife practice and a midwife birthing center attached to a hospital, so we're checking that out first.

Am I the only one horrified by some of these pregnancy books!!??!?! I'm afraid to sneeze!!

Some of them are really bad. Maybe someone on this list or your MW can recommend one? I'm looking for suggestions too. Last time I had What To Expect While You're Expecting and it was horribly disorganized, misinformed, and smug.

Most doctors agree that you can keep up your regular physical activity in the first trimester. As long as you don't smoke or drink and you take care to eat a reasonable diet you should be OK.

Hi all:

My name is Elisabeth (26), my husband is N (33), and we just found out this past weekend that we're finally preg, after 13 cycles TTC! It just starting to sink in ... I'm a bit scared to get really excited -- keep freaking out about possible miscarriage. I had some brown spotting the day before I tested, and actually grieved the loss of this cycle. The spotting (implantation, maybe?) stopped, and the next day I took a test. Wow. The temps are up up up, the spotting never came back, and I'm starting to think this could be for real. I sure hope so! I spent waaay too much time reading the homebirth boards yesterday. Hee.

This (Gd willing) will be our first child, predicted due date of Dec 7, 2009.

Nice to meet all of you!
