Lets Introduce Ourselves!! - Page 7

Hi Awaken!

We're going through Birthcare in Alexandria. The initial plan was to have a birth center birth, so as not to freak out our families, but we decided that ignoring everyone was best for us and the baby.LOL

I love MDC, because it's like the only place where my ideas don't seem so radical.

Who is/are your midwife(s)?

You are absolutely right- what matters most is where you and baby are most comfortable and feel safest! So many of my friends and neighbors have used Birthcare, I'm sure you will have a wonderful experience!

My midwives are the MAMAS midwives, www.mamasmidwives.com This is my 2nd homebirth, 1st with them. Looking forward to it!

I've never heard of them, but from the website, they sound awesome!! They do home visits, wow! I can't wait to hear your birth story!

Yours, too! Yeah, they are pretty great, and live a few blocks from me, which is perfect since my other 2 births have been fast. The in-home prenatal visits are a huge bonus since i have other kids- waiting in waiting rooms with them for appointments is not fun! I almost went with Birthcare last time but couldn't make their office hours!

Hi everyone, joining a little late here! I am due on New Years Eve but with a planned c-section on or around the 21st. I dread it but it is what it is.

This is our fourth and last baby. We tried to find the gender but instead found a baby.

Anyway just wanted to come out of lurkdom and say hello all!

Hi all!

DeAnn here, age 31, EDD 12/30/09 with dd #2. Taking Bradley classes in hopes of having a nonmedicated hospital birth. My doctor is in the top 2 on the list of OB/GYNs preferred by doulas in my areas. I also have a doula. Can't wait to be able to share a good birth story.

Hi there!

I'm new to posting on the forums so this post is very late! lol

I'm Tiffany (24) and work as a special educator (tho not this year as we wanted me to be a SAHM for the first year). My husband (Jacob, 27) and I have been together for five years and married for two. We agreed that we'd adopt little ones when we were ready but I guess somewhere along the lines we changed our minds and started TTC! Our second month of trying we got super lucky and here I am - almost nine months later! (As an aside, we still plan on adopting!)

We plan on having an unmedicated water birth at a birth center but who knows what will happen! We wanted to take hypnobirthing classes but haven't been able to afford them so the book will have to suffice (any recommendations are much appreciated!). As what our parents lovingly refer to as "silly first-time parents", we plan on cloth diapering, foregoing vaccines, not circumcising and a host of other "ridiculous" things to try to do our best for our little guy! We'll see if they're right or if I am really as hard-headed as I think I am!

Looking forward to learning more about all of you! Take care!

A bit late...

My name is Samantha, and you'll have to forgive my tardiness. I originally enrolled with the February 2010, but I gave my midwife the wrong date and ended up with a documented due date in January. At my prenatal appointment today, I measured 34 weeks, baby is head down and dropped - or as I like to call it, locked and loaded - I'm 50 percent effaced and dilated to 3 centimeters. I'm calling this a December baby, so I'd like to get to know THIS birth club a little better. I teach 6th grade at a rural school, every subject but math and social studies, and I have the inclusion class for 14 hours per week. It's like being a special education teacher for half of the week. I'm married to a wonderful SAHD, James. We've been married for 3 and a half years now, and we currently have one son, Collin, born December 2007 at 36 weeks - there's a pattern here somewhere I'm sure. DS is unvaxed, noncirced, and we co-slept/sleep - he prefers his own bed, which is next to ours, some nights - he was breastfed until he self-weaned at 16 months - about the time of conception for baby numero dos. We are currently saving up to buy another truckload of BumGenius diapers. We also mainly eat organic foods, try to buy locally, and limit meat consumption. I am hoping to foster rescue animals this summer, since DH and I disagree on when the best time to get our kids a family dog. I say no time like the present, he says over his dead body, so it's just another issue to compromise on.
