newborn and vax wwyd

Hi, I'm very new at this and don't even know where to begin. I wasn't planning on having my ds (1 month and a half) vaccinated until way later in life because I was going to bf and I got all my immunizations that were going to be passed down to him along with all the benefits of bm. Anyway to make a long story short my milk unfortunately dried up due to some meds I am having to take. Now we're doing formula but I still am not sure whether I should get him vax or not. As you all know formula is nothing like bm and that's why I'm worried. So what would you do in this circumstance? Also any books recommended on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Personally the ONLY vax I would consider doing if I didn't BF would be HIB.

I would reccomend you do as much research as you can (in bewteen sleeping ) and delay this decision until you learn more since you admit you are new to this.

It may also be possible to get your milk flowing again. Or are you permanently on the meds?

There have been a lot of threads discussing formula and vaccines. I don't have time to search, but perhaps someone can help?

I agree. I know some of the other mamas who formula feed and don't vax focus on building the immune system with probiotics (I'm not sure about a little little one taking these...I would ask in the health and healing forum).
What medications are you taking?

Are you able to produce any milk at all? Even if you need to supplement with formula (or even if it seems more like supplementing the formula with a little breastmilk), your milk will still give your baby lots of immunities and probiotics. Donor milk is another option if you're unable to produce any milk (or if you can produce some but not enough.)

Breastmilk isn't the ONLY way to keep babies healthy. Regular chiropractic care is another. Avoid harsh medications when the baby has minor illnesses, and let the baby's own immune system do its job properly.

My baby has been 100% formula fed since she was three weeks old (a long sad story, please don't judge as I have enough guilt already). I have not, and will not, vax.

My perspective is that not breastfeeding slightly increases the risk of contracting a disease. It does NOT make vaccines any safer.

At nearly nine months old she has had two very minor colds that she got over in less than two days, and absolutely nothing else. My friend's baby that is a month younger is 100% breastfed and 100% vaxed and gets sick at least once a month for about a week. It isn't all cut and dried.

By all means try to get some help with breastfeeding if that is what you want to do, but please, please, please don't beat yourself up too badly if it doesn't work out. It took me a long time to get over my feelings about being a failure as a mother because I couldn't bf.

But I also wanted to say something about your comment that you got vaxed in order to pass your immunities on to your baby. I am unaware of any vaxes that work that way. Which ones are you talking about?

All of my research has led me to believe that vaccines do more harm than good, regardless of how babies are fed. I would be even more hesitant to immunize a formula fed baby. I would do everything I could to strengthen my LO's immune system, not destroy it completely with vaccines.

Watching videos like "Vaccination- The Hidden Truth" and "Vaccine Nation" really made me aware of the problems with vaccines. They have nothing to do with formula or breastmilk.

Thank you all so much for your replies. The truth is the meds I take (blood thinners) are safe for bf so I have been. The problem is that since having this problem my body didn't have time to make enough milk and the meds I take counteract with everything. I was taking alfalfa pills and mother's tea and eating foods that helped bring it back. It helped but since being on these pills I have to be on a very strict diet, and I can't have any herbs or alfalfa or anything like dark leafy greens and most veggies for that matter. So it brings me comfort on one end that the formula is providing him with all the nutrients he needs but I often times find myself crying or on a guilt trip because I can't provide for him anymore. I'm glad he had the colostrum and the beginning of my milk but that was it. So I quit bf because he gets frustrated from not having enough milk then my nipples get the beating but mostly I feel frustrated because I can't provide for him and end up crying. just_lily I would never judge you but I certainly know what you're feeling. It also gives me hope that my ds can be like your dd hardly sick. I also like what you said about your perspective

My plan was to bf him and no vax until he was old enough that his immune system would be strong and only then it would be on a slow track. I just assumed that if I was healthy enough and got all my immunizations up to date that my baby getting all the nutrients from me would be okay. Now he's almost two months and his dr. appt is coming up. I'm going to cancel it because I really don't feel good about him getting vaccinated.

I am definitely going to do a lot more research on this and in the meantime find out ways to build his immune system. Btw do you guys recommend any books that you liked? I have to be on these meds till June which would be three months from now.Ammiga thanks for the recommendations on these videos.

To do research and wait until you really know what you are doing is an excellent idea. You can always vaccinate but you can never take the vaccine back out of the body again. And if he should have a vaccine reaction, that could mean he is suffering all his life. No childhood disease will be that devastating. Most last 2 weeks max. I know because I had them all and my kids had several of them. Non were really anything I would consider worrisome.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but vaccine immunity, which is not core immunity, can not be passed on to the child. Only natural immunity can be passed on.

That is a very smart move. Unless you are very determined and will just tell the doc that you are not going to vaccinate for now no matter what he says. But they have been trained to fear talk you into vaccinating. They are very good sales persons for big pharma the drug companies.

Dr. Mendelsohn How to Raise a healthy child in spite of your doctor

Aviva Jill Romm Healthy Babies, healthy children

Please also read everything in the archives. You would be so upset if you simply vaccinated your child and then started to inform yourself. So, do it in the right order. Inform yourself and then make an informed decision.
