Being harassed by insurance company...

My son's insurance company called me a couple of days ago and left a message explaining that my son has missed a few vaccines. It was a long message telling me that my son will not get into daycare without vaccines and to make sure I follow the recommended schedule by the CDC. And after this long message I hear "This message was generously funded by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals." :

Okay, so I admit my husband saved the message because we found it hilarious. But now, this is just getting silly...

I checked the mail today and I received a postcard from the insurance company explaining the same thing. And in small print...what do I see...Wyeth Pharmaceuticals again.

My son has not had any vaccines since birth when they gave him the Hep B vaccine without my knowledge.

So, should I call his insurance company and tell them to take me off their calling list and/or mailing list regarding vaccines? Or should I just leave it alone? TIA!

That is very entertaining indeed. I'm glad you "know better" than to let it get to you. I don't know if it would do any good but you could always call. I'd just avoid getting into a discussion about your choices with anyone you get on the phone. It is unlikely they are as educated about it as you and will be a waste of time.

I would call and say "While my DP and I are getting great belly laughs out of receiving vaccine advertisements through you sponsored by a vaccine manufacturer...please take me off your list and save a tree. oh, and BTW, don't bother calling me about it anymore. I will make the decisions regarding my child's health in spite of wyeth pharma."

Unbelievable. Sadly, I think you just have to leave it alone. The person you get t your insurance company will have NO idea what you are talking about.

we got the same thing. Voice mails, letters, etc. we just ignored them, and they stopped.

Thankfully we have not had this experience although we have received a few postcards from the Every child by 2 campaign and the Silence Pertussis campaign. I would just ignore it.

I got some phone calls about my ds this year when we switched to medicaid. I called back and told them he was up to date and there must be a problem with their records.

What other drug is pushed in this way? Unbelievable!

yeah, I got a card from Wyeth pharma when ds was a baby. I was appalled that our medical info was floating out there like that.

DH and I are both in our 40's...should I be keeping my eye out for a card reminding us to get our Lipitor and Viagra?

We get the same thing too. I just ignore as well.

I would ignore it, too. But, if you wanted to call just tell them that they don't know if your son is up to date or not - they just have his private medical information from claims you've submitted. They don't know if you've taken him to the health department on free vax day and saved them some $$$.

Tell them you don't want to be harassed and it really is none of their business.

Thanks so much for all of your responses. Now this is getting ridiculous. His health insurance van was around my neighborhood passing out info on vaccines.

Wtf?!

I ignored the van, but geez.

I swear, big brother has it out for me.
