Is there a way to skim goat milk for cream?

I have a great little goat dairy 5 minutes from my house and we get about a gallon of raw milk every week. I can't really use a gallon at this time. However, I love cream in my coffee but it costs $10 a pint to buy cream from the cow dairy I go to. Is there a way that I can skim cream from the goat milk? This would be soooo great if I could.

Also, I finally showed my husband some You Tube videos of animal feed lots which is disgusting! Thus he is willing to use raw cream in his coffee instead of store bought, but not at $10 bucks a pint. If I could use cream from goat milk he would use it too. He doesn't like just milk in his coffee and neither do I.

I believe goats milk requires a mechanical separator. It doesn't separate into layers like cows milk does.

Goats milk, for lack of a better term is "naturally homogenized". THats part of the reason it is so good for babies that are needing something other then breastmilk.

I must say, my jaw hit the deck when I saw how much your cream is!!!
We only pay $5 per quart......

Here, raw cream in the grocery store is $10/pint. That's why I never buy it. At $5/qt you can bet I'd be buying it every week!

I read that if you freeze it, the cream will separate. I have never tried this, though, and don't know what it would do to the quality of the milk.

I had goats several year ago and I did manage to skim some cream off. I would pour the milk into a shallow cake pan and set out on counter or in fridge (if you have enough room in there) and after a few hours, skim, and you will get cream. Not much, but some. I have made goat butter and it was delish!
