How should I set up the diaper station/s

My sons changing area is upstairs right now and I do have to run up a bit to change him but I've gotten used to it, plus he's 2 and not needing changed very often. But I was thinking with a new little one on the way also that maybe I should set something up downstairs too. Little ones need changed so much more frequently I'm afraid I won't be able to get up and down that much For those of you who have done this... did you just get a dozen more diapers and have them for downstairs only? Leaving the main stash on one floor or the other... or did you just split up what you had and do that way. I'll need to get a diaper pail too... just trying to figure out the best way to arrange everything. Any advice ?

I put my diaper changing area where I spent the most time diapering. For me that was downstairs as we only slept upstairs.
Then I just brought enough diapers for the night up with me at bedtime and I had a small garbage can that came down with me every morning. I did have half my wipes upstairs in a wipe warmer because I would always forget to bring them up with me every night.
