I am new to this site but stumbled across it looking for a solution and maybe you guys can help me.
My son turned 1 on monday and he went in for his shots he had an MMR, Pneumococcal Conjugate and the hepA. Well he came home and that night started to run a fever, the next day it was up to 104 and I could not get it down to normal even alternating between Tylenol and Motrin. I called the doctor and they said it was probably a side affect and if he still had the fever Wednesday to bring him in. He also was not eating and was not himself all he wanted me to do was hold him. Wednesday he did not run a fever all day till 5 and so Thursday when he was still running a fever I brought him in. The doctor said that it was either a virus or a side effect to the shots and sent me home. Friday he seemed happier and his appitite was slowly coming back but he woke up from his afternoon nap with a rash on his torso and by night it was all over his stomach and back and spreading to his arms and face. I looked online and I guess it could be roseola but I am a STAHM so where would my son get this from? So I am leaning towards a reaction to one of the shots he got, is this possible?

The MMR is a live virus vax. Both Rubella and Measles produce rashes, with measles typically involving the high fever. It is rare but possible to actually get the diseases from the vax. A dear friend of mine's dd got the measles from her vax. The high fever not relieved by meds, and then breaking out in a rash as the fever ebbs are symptoms of true measles. That would be my guess as to what has happened here. It could be a random virus but IMHO that is likely not what you're seeing. You should report this reaction to VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System) just to cover your bases.
