prefolds size question

Thread Starter
Are there more than one size of prefolds? The only time I have ever seen them is a Walmart. (gerber brand, I think) And they seem REALLY big for a little babe. We are planning to use Thritsties covers over prefolds, so do I need to use a special fold to make them smaller or can I find a newborn size somewhere? (If there are two sizes- how many of the little ones do I need? We are on a TIGHT budget.)

Thanks!

I only have one size. When ds was smaller I would fold down the front of the diaper. It worked just fine but was pretty bulky.

If you want to buy newborn prefolds you can get them at greenmountaindiapers.com. She carries lots of sizes, but I've heard the orange-edge prefolds work great for newborns. If you are trying to save money, see is anyone is selling NB prefolds on eBay or diaperswapppers.com. Newborn prefolds can be used as doublers when your child grows out of them.

I think the minimum I would get is some infant size prefolds and then premium size once the little one gets bigger. I think the best deals online are at http://www.little-lions.com (they have seconds too for even lower prices), maybe take a look at how they compare to the prices you see locally.
