Fulton County, Georgia Jury Returns $2.3 Million Verdict for Botched Circumcision - Page 2

Dave2GA, I've contacted you.

I would like to comment on the ending sentence of this article:
Quote:
Bless this Fulton County jury for taking into the consideration the emotion toil this unnecessary deformity will have on this child as he grows into a young man...something he will have to live with every day of his life, all due through no fault of his own.
I would like to have seen this sentence end "......through no CONSENT of his own." When language like this begins to be used, the tide will have shifted towards recognizing the right of the child to self determination.

No, I don't think that I merely got "lucky." I think that mindful parenting had something to do with it. I know tons of people who will thoughtfully research the best car to buy or how to perfect a golf swing, but just "wing it" when it comes to parenting.

The mother does NOT get anything for herself. She was awarded money to pay for his medical expenses and psychological counseling. The rest of the money goes into a trust account for him when he is an adult.

No money will guarantee the happiness of this child... how many more of this we need have for this to STOP!
If the suit were related to a woman who slipped & fell while walking the hospital hallway during labor every woman in a 3 state radius would be forced to stay in bed for labor.

But since it is "just" circumcision...well let's just carry on as normal!

I know. Recently in New Jersey after the incredibly large number of TWO WOMEN got injured from Brazilian Waxing(one of who is suing), they are considering banning it in the state.

Two people getting injured, and one is suing (sound familiar) they are banning it, yet with circ injuries can happen every day, some that even lead to death BECAUSE of the circumcision. Yet not only is their no ban, no one even considers to look at the issue.

Dave2GA- Since you were working on the case (and maybe I am wrong about my assumption above) but did you get the sense that people otherwise not involved in the circ issue looked at this case and made them to at least consider a few greater questions here?

thanks TCA thats where I was going.

She is going to need that money to care for a child who had his penis damaged. Hopefully the poor babe doesn't have any 'problems' like urinary problems. Can you imagine being a teen and starting to date while missing 1/3 of your penis? Kids have a hard enough time with their sexuality.

I hope people read this and become educated. The part where they admit that 'missing' and slicing into the glans is a known risk!? Why are we taking risks like that? Ick. Thats a risk that noone should have to take.

And Thank you dave!

dave or TCA you wouldn't happen to have numbers on 'botched' circs would you?

I saw you mentioned in the article and was happy the family had you on their side. I'm glad you were a part of this case. I'm sorry for the boy, but very pleased the verdict went your way. Congrats!
