How much smell is normal?

Is it reasonable to expect my diaper pail to be stink free? My DH thinks so silly man!

It doesn't smell too much and I wash every other day. You don't notice a smell when you walk by and the nursery doesn't stink, but there is a super strong ammonia smell when you get to the bottom of the pail emptying it into the washer.

I don't use baking soda and it's a dry pail.

I mean, you're storing poop and pee in there, so it's going to smell a little, right?

I figure any diaper pail is going to have some kind of smell... like you said, its poop and pee on them!! Our pail is the same way, it smells if you stick your head in it (though WHY one would do that I have no idea) and it smells when I empty it..

do you keep it closed?

I used to keep ours in the bathroom with a lid & it was awful..

now.. i keep it on the top shelf in the laundry room (not to high to reach up & toss a dirty one in) without a lid & it dosent smell much at all.
