I have pockets, fuzzi bunz old & new style, plus some swaddleebees pockets w/ cotton/terry inner. Pee is rolling off the diaper onto my ds's leg. it is not soaking in . IT is staying on the surface. I wash with very little soap and rinse twice. I do dry in the dryer for a short time. Some of the diapers are older but some are like new. WHat am i doing, or what should i do to fix the absorbancy problem????? HELP

PS ds is NOT a heavy wetter

It is detergent buildup. What are you using?

It could possibly be detergent buildup. I have no experience with that, but I'm sure somebody else can advise you about that.

Another possibility is that there's rash cream on there, like Destitin or whatever. The solution to that is to wash with a plain dish detergent like Dawn, to cut the oils in the cream. I had Fuzzi Bunz that I used with my oldest, and we had issues with that after MIL used some kind of cream.

Dryer sheets could do it too.

How many times have you washed you diapers? Cotton, especially organic cotton, needs to be washed quite a few times before it reaches maximum absorbency. I would try washing them a couple more times and see if that helps.

I had the same thing happen with our fuzzi bunz from not using ENOUGH detergent. Get a good-rinsing detergent like Charlie's Soap and then use the FULL scoop. The problem with using too little is that you can get bacteria build-up (which is, I think, what happened with our diapers). Using the full recommended amount of a water soluble detergent will make sure you don't have bacteria build-up OR detergent build-up. Once I changed my use, the repelling problems disappeared in short order.

Hope that helps!

Ooops! Sounds like they are repelling. What kind of soap are you using? Check out http://pinstripesandpolkadots.com/detergentchoices.htm and see if your detergent is safe for pockets.

You're going to have to strip them. Use a few teaspoons of dish soap (NOT a natural brand, you need something like Dawn) and wash until there are no suds. Wash the crap out of them, rinse rinse rinse. You may want to add 1/4 cup vinegar to the rinse too.
