Hmm...well my water just broke about an hour ago followed by the one (and only) contraction I've had all day. Doesn't seem like anything else is going on. Will definitely keep you all updated as I either go into labor or...well...don't. But hopefully it will be the former

But I do have some free advice for other first timers out there: If, like me, you only have 2 maxi pads on hand, now would be a good time to go get some more and keep them stowed just about everywhere (just in case). I was definitely caught off guard by how much fluid there was and how it just kept gushing every time I moved. Everytime I thought it was done and got up, there'd be a fresh gush and the dry panties and mama cloth I had just put on would be soaked. Gah, it did slow down enough for me to dash down to the basement to grab a chux pad to sit on. Can you tell I figured my water wouldn't break until well into active labor where I could send DH to gather the birth supplies?

Congratulations on the start of your labor and good luck! My water broke at the beginning of both my labors and I remember that gushing every time I moved.

How exciting. Should be soon. I always wear a pad since I have incontinence issues, but this is a great reminder for other mama's!

Good luck! I hated that gushing with DS, I felt so gross and maxi pads don't keep you dry for long!

Thanks for the support everyone

I'm having considerably more contractions than I've had over the last week but they're still no where near regular. I'm still not quite willing to call "labor" yet, but it does seem that things are heading in that direction :

Well, I went out and bought some overnights...thanks for the heads-up. Guess I should put some in my purse...course if water actually breaks in public, I imagine it'll be like sandbagging the amazon...Hoping it'll break at home, in labor, or I'll get the trickle instead of the gush.

GL!! Glad the cx are getting more frequent...hope true labor comes very soon!
