Since getting pregnant, giving birth and now breastfeeding, all my research on nutrition and eating has been about women and babies. I started transitioning to this nourishing traditions kind of eating, but my husband isn't sure he likes the idea. I am convinced of more fat mainly because since nursing I crave meat and fat so it just makes sense to me. But my husband is worried about getting fat. Are there any articles or good books that specifically talk about men's health or just that might convince him in general? At this time he doesn't like me cooking everything in butter, is vary wary of coconut oil and wants only fiber cereal for breakfast and eats very small portions for lunch and dinner. (his mom was very anti-fat and while he doesn't agree with her theoretically, he isn't used to fattening meals and if he gets one heavy meal which for us would be pancakes, bacon, big lunch or dinner then he won't eat much more for the other meals. Any ideas?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I'm in the same boat with my DH but since I've gone into a more "Paleo" type of eating he's really gotten on board, mainly since I've dropped 20 lbs in 3 months on this diet. I started here:
http://freetheanimal.com/
and here:
http://www.marksdailyapple.com
Both sites have LOADS of information on sat fat/heart disease/insulin control/inflammation control and are both written by men. They have lots of links to other information too. I've also gotten him into IF (intermittent fasting) and he's seen results in just a couple of weeks, so he's super stoked
Good luck.

Anecdotally, it seems like several of us on the board have noticed that our husbands don't need as much fat as we do. I think that the stresses of pregnancy and nursing, and for me some long-term health problems as well, have combined to make my fat needs, well, astronomical. My husband's health, overall, is much better, though not at all optimal, and he seems to need a lot less fat than I do. I remember one night in particular, I guess our main dish was very high-fat, but I found it very filling and satisfying, it was just lovely, whereas my husband felt it was just too rich. So now my goal is to choose healthy foods from various categories, and prepare meals and snacks in such a way that each person can choose how much of that richer, fattier stuff they want, and still have other things to fill them up if that's what they prefer.
And as a previous poster mentioned, I think grain-free (paleo-ish, since we already consume no dairy) is going to be a big boost to my husband's health--not so much mine, though I doubt it will hurt (it may be great for me too), but I think it will help him lose weight and feel better.
