Worldwide rates of circ? And also rates of STD's?

I've seen the statistic that 80% of the world's men are intact. Where does that come from?

Any links to circ rates by country? I'm not finding the right information online. Google keeps offering me pro-circ sites.

Also, I'm looking for rates of STD's by country. Specifically HIV, but all STD rates are welcome.

I'm sure someone here has these links handy. I'm involved in a pro/con circ discussion, and I need some info to back me up.

Thanks!

No links about the rates, but I figured I'd share the links that show that foreskin actually protects from HIV.

Most recent scientists discovery that Langerhans cells that are present in the foreskin are behave as ‘natural barrier’ to HIV.
Bellow are the links.

Another study shows no HIV protection from circumcision

Outside of Israel, the U.S. is the 2nd highest circumcising country in the world and after Africa, has the 2nd highest infection rate. Plus the fact that more than 80% of the world's men are "uncircumcised" and countries in Europe have an extremely low HIV+ rate.

Important to mention that cancer can grow on circumcision scars:

The tumors involved the prepuce (n = 1), prepuce and distal shaft (n = 1), circumcision scar line (n = 2), circumcision scar line and distal shaft

As for the intact rates, I don't have the link, but if you think about it, the math is quite simple:

USA is the ONLY contry that is still circ-ing for non-religious reasons;
the rest of the countries that do circ are whether Jewish or Muslim.

There's fluctuation in the number because data on the number of circumcisions performed in other countries isn't always tracked well or accurately. I've seen claims of circumcision prevalence as low as 20 percent to as high as 40 percent.

But the WHO (World Health Organization) states that 30 percent of the world's male pop is circumcised while the rest is not. http://www.who.int/hiv/pub/malecircu...opack_en_2.pdf

This would be a good figure to share since it's from an "unbiased source." Which still puts the men who circumcise in the minority against a vast intact majority.

Not strictly true: from Papua New Guinea to Africa there are often tribal reasons. The Xhosa in South Africa is a good example.

Thing is: the Chinese and most of the Indians don't. That alone is a 1/3 of the world's population, and rising. Then you have the entirety of Europe, most of the rest of Asia, increasingly Australasia and Canada, all of South America...
