Daisy- I think that the cysts secrete estrodial, which can interfere with ovulation. However, if you are doing injectibles, I am not sure if the FSH shots override that. Are you seeing a RE? Can you demand an ultrasound after the BCP's? Or at least a baseline estrodial to make sure they are gone? My doc was uber careful with CD3 bloodwork and baseline U/S.

Yes, I'm seeing an RE. I go to Boston IVF, so I presume they know what they're doing. We're doing Follistim and Ovidrel. I asked the nurse if I needed to come back for an u/s after the BCPs. She checked with the RE and he said there was no need. Perhaps I'll ask about that again when I call on Day 1. I'm wondering if protocol depends on the size of the cyst?

Becky, good luck with your cyst situation. So frustrating. I'm thinking about you and your husband and hope you two can find some peace in this journey.

Daisy I can't remember if I had to wait for AF after the BCP. I think I started clomid that night. I am on 2 weeks of BCP. Last time I still had the cysts after 14 days so I did a total of 21. Hope this time is shorter. I need to make an appt for accupuncture. Good luck!

they said that I still have a cyst but it looks like it is going away even though it is bigger? They said I can startthe shots tonight and I have an appointment on Monday for u/s. We will see if they keep me on cycle or if I will be canceled on Monday.....

Evening everyone!! So the fertility clinic called with hubby's morphology report and it wasn't good - only 3%.....so we've cancelled our IUI cycle and will look into starting ivf/icsi in May.

Laci - you can remove me from waiting to O.

I am so upset!!! I had an appointment this morning to see how many mature follicles I have and to test estrogen before our iui monday. well I have been on menopur this cycle after having a poor response to clomid and bravelle. Anyways, Once again I only have one mature follicle. I am so depressed. I feel like I have wasted $4000.00! Why did I pay all of this money to make one follicle when I do that on my own naturally????? And to add the frosting to the cake, I have no more money left for treatment. Yay me, what a waste.

AFM- BFN today. I tested so that I could stop my progesterone. I am feeling pretty defeated. I don't really know what else to say.

Oh I'm so sorry Are you confident that a 12 day test would be accurate? I guess it probably is, huh? I'm always checking up on you because I feel like we're in a similar situation. My dh's morphology is really bad. They didn't give us a percentage with the last IUI, but just said, "very few normal shapes."

I am so tired of all of this and this is only my second IUI! (We've been trying for 6 years -- IVF and surgeries, etc...)

May I ask -- how can they tell if the Clomid isn't working? What do they look for? My doctor doesn't do any blood work or ultrasounds, so I have know idea if it's helping at all.

Thanks so much dear. Yes, I imagine that the test at 12 DPO would be accurate. I will test again tomorrow morning just to be sure but I think that we are looking at a failed cycle.

IVF was successful on our first try. Our cycle actually DID NOT go well at all. I only got 10 eggs (I was 23 at the time) and they could only find 8 normally shaped sperm. So right off the bat, they had to discard two of my eggs. Only two embryos made it to day 3. We transferred both and I just knew that it didn't work. Boy was I wrong! My sweet boy was born 9 months later.

Are you temping and checking progesterone to confirm ovulation?

I am sorry for your disappointment. Are you doing the IUI? The same thing happened to me. After a hyperstim cycle that was cancelled and 19 days of BCP's after due to residual cysts, I was started slowly on stim meds. I had...1 follicle, like you! I was so upset, because, like you said, I could have done that myself. I had my IUI, and it worked. Just trying to encourage you a bit. Please hang in there!

Go to your signature edit. Type out the words you want people to click on, then highlight those words. Then go to the top (in the same line as the bold/ underline options) and click on the little world icon. Should say "insert link" when you hover over it. Then a little box will pop up. Copy and past the link to your blog in the box.

I'm so glad it gives you hope. Our RE even said (after our son was born and we went back to visit) that our cycle was one that he was losing sleep over because it was likely not to have worked. Nathan was surely meant to be here.

Ouch on the muscle!!!! I went for a high intense cardio work out earlier this week and I'm still hurting!! what a wimp I am. Hubby doesn't want to do donor sperm just yet, he seems confident that we can concieve.....I guess only time will tell!!

AFM: we got a call from the fertility clinic yesterday now telling us they'd really like to do one more IUI - first they tell us theres no point, then they tell us there is!!! talk about mixed messages!!! Our specialist thinks that we have a slight chance since we've had children already........this whole secondary infertility is starting to get the best of me. I guess we'll go ahead with the IUI this month and then onto IVF/ICSI there after.

Thanks for all the encouragment!!! I really needed it! Yes, I still had my IUI. I had it this morning and I took the opportunity to ask the doctor about the low response. Seems that I have been freaking out for nothing. The doctor said that he only wanted me to have one mature follicle and that if he wanted me to make more then he would have put me on a higher dosage. That was a relief because I was beginning to think that I never did make mature follicles and that the meds were the only thing helping me do so. Not to worry though. Doctor said all is fine. We only had one problem this morning which the doctor said wouldn't affect our chances. My husband had a high white blood cell count in his sample this morning. Turns out that he has an infection that we didn't know about.

I am still very optimistic about this cycle and the doctor seems to be too. I had a really great estrogen count on last blood work. I'm very excited to see what happens!!!

OOOOOHHHHH.... and I need to be moved to 2ww.

AFM: I haven't been online in several days. I had a scan done 4/1 to check follicles and lining. I had 1 good follicle and 2 almost there; lining was not so good. We decided to wait until Friday to do the HCG trigger shot (checking OPK in the meantime) to give the lining and other follicles a chance. The IUI was Saturday and I started my prometrium today (the joy). Sperm count was (yet again) not so hot and motility was poor.

I don't really think that anyone (me, the RE staff, my husband...) actually expects this cycle to succeed. They're planning to move me on to injectable meds for my next couple of cycles but given the male factor issues the RNPs have started observing that our best chance is IVF (which is not covered by our insurance at all). Meh.
