spotting & er visit last night....triggers.

I'm still emotional about this...

So yesterday at about 5pm DH and I were out shopping and I went to pee. When I wiped I was a streak of red/pink blood on the tp. I put my finger in myself about 1 inch and pulled back with bright red blood. Not tons....but just like the second you realize you got your period and caught it before anything came out. Dh and I went straight to the ER in hopes to get blood work done.

Ultrasound tech did a vaginal and regular scan. Could see 'maybe the starts of a sac' at one point but loss the view and couldn't find it again. No sacs seen.

Blood came back at 772.

5 hours later DH and I were greeted by the first DR we've seen.
Dr: Your blood levels are too low.
Me: I'm not even 'late' for my period till tomorrow. 772 isn't high enough?
Dr: no.
Me: and the ultrasound?
Dr: The radiologist cant find a yolk sac. This isn't a viable pregnancy. I want to examine you down below.
Me: no. I want to leave.

Then we left. Total I didn't bleed enough to make a mark on my underwear. Though I did go to the bathroom to wipe every 35 minutes or so. Always just a small streak of pink.

We got home at 11pm and I put on a pad and went to bed. I woke up at 5....no blood. Then again at 9......no blood. I checked myself internally at 9am and there was slight brown tint to CF. Now, at noon there is nothing.

No cramping at all throughout any of this.

I have no idea what to think. From all I know, my blood was okay and at 4w0d there's not really anything to see on an ultrasound a lot of the time.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the OB. I'm sure more blood tests too.

Guess I just want hugs.

I bled every 28days - very lightly for two months into my pg with #3, and I bled for 3 days in January of this year right on track for when my period was due - I am still 16wks pg now.

It is VERY possible to still have some spotting in/around the time that your period is due. My first instinct is to say don't worry yet - but I have NO knowledge about blood levels....

:HUGS: from a been there Mum who has spotted at some point throughout each and every one of her pregnancies - and I'm having baby #4, it IS possible for all to be okay!!!

Good luck with the OB tomorrow!

I totally think it is too early to see anything on an ultrasound, so I really wouldn't go by that. Your dr will probably do another HCG test. 772 isn't a bad number for how far along you are either. I was only mid 100's when I was like 5 weeks w/ my first ds. And it isn't unheard of for women to have bleeding and go on to have a healthy pregnancy. I have suffered a m/c and I know how scary it is to see blood and not know what is going to happen. In my personal experience my m/c started with brown blood that was only there when I would wipe. It went on like that for 2 days and then I went to the hospital. I started having heavy bleeding the next day. But I also had weird HPT for that pregnancy as well. Some were really positive and then some would be negative, back and forth for a few days.
I wish you lost of sticky dust!!

gosh, i know everytime i go to the bathroom, i hold my breath to see if there is anything on the tp.

don't give up hope yet...your little baby bean could have just been hiding from the US.

good luck at your OB tomorrow.

Hope this doesn't come off snarky...what did you expect the ER to do? They can't save a pregnancy that's failing. They couldn't even tell you anything you didn't know. What would you have liked?
I'm glad you declined a vaginal exam you didn't want. I hope this baby is sticky and all is well.

That did come off harsh Apricot.
I am sorry - you didn't need harsh after spending 5 hours+ in the ER.
If you do another hcg blood draw at the OB tomorrow, you've got a great set up to see doubling.

Oh hun, it's okay. I bet you anything that that little bean of yours is perfectly fine!! I've read that there are quite a bit of women can bleed right around the time that there period is due. I've bled with 2 of my 4 past pregnancies and everything turned out fine. I also think that your beta was pretty good! I am going to find the website that lists the normal beta levels for you. And also, at 4 weeks there really is NOT much to be seen on u/s. I had one done at 4 w 5 d with my 2nd and you could barely see the yolk sack! So don't lose hope. I think that everything will be a-okay. HUGS!!!!

Oh mama, hang in there!!

I think that 50% of women that bleed in the beginning go on to have a perfectly healthy pregnancy. It's still scary tho and I hope to hear those numbers increasing!!

Sending good and sticky thoughts for your babe!

I'm sorry you had to go through that.

In my experience, ER doctors aren't really reliable when it comes to these sorts of things. They aren't OBs so they aren't accurate and the US techs in the ER are not very good at detecting early pregnancy, because there really isn't much to see anyhow. It seems like the ER usually jumps to the "not a viable pregnancy" line very quickly, whether or not the pregnancy really is viable. Your OB will be more sensitive to your needs and will be able to give you a better idea of what is going on. Hope you get good news tomorrow!

with my son I spotted the day after I found out I was pregnant which was the day my period was supposed to arive. So I called my dr. but he told me it was implantation. Know what it was. And it was IDENTICAL to what you are talking about. 3 weeks later I started spotting again but much more often. Went to the Dr. and he said I had a hematoma on my cervix and it was no big deal. I spotted for 3 weeks after that and it was fine. Now heres the funny part while waiting for my dr. another dr. came in, examined me and told me I had a "retroverted uterus" and that I was most likely miscarrying & he could do a dnc later that day. If I hadn't insisted on seeing my dr. who knows if I'd have my baby boy sitting on my lap trying to help me type right now. I'd bet $50 bucks that it was implantation. Like I said exact same symtoms as you at almost the exact time and my dr. didn't even call me in. He actually kind of chuckled at me. Some dr's are a-holes (excuse my french). Go see your doc TODAY. If you are turning that pee stick you're horemones are FINE!!! Alot of people take the urine test and it comes up negative because their horemone levels are low long further along than you. I'm not going to make any promises to you about anything but I'm going to tell you that I'd get a serious second opinion first.

I had bright red bleeding with my first pregnancy. I thought it was my period so I didn't know I was pregnant for a while. I had it periodically throughout my pregnancy too - sometimes after sex, sometimes when I was just going potty, sometimes just out of the blue. Dr said it was probably just a blood vessel on my cervix and it was nothing to worry about. I had a healthy baby boy at term although I did end up with pre-eclampsia.

Honestly, it sounds like implantation bleeding to me. If you're 4w0d from the first day of your last period, then it's really only 2 weeks after conception, and that's right when I had implantation bleeding with each of my pregnancies. With my first I was on the pill, and that bleeding happened right when I expected my period, but was light and really short. Being ever the optimist I said to myself "two days is way better than 5, so I'm not complaning". It wasn't until I missed the next period that I even poas. I'm sorry the dr was such an a$$.

DDC crash. Wait it out, call your HCP and get another draw in 48 hours. If it goes up. your good.

((HUGS))

Good for you for declining the vaginal exam.
