I am looking for some books on hb. I am not really interested in the hows and whys, but more birth stories. I am about halfway through Spiritual Midwifery and am finding the latter part of the book after the birth stories to be a bit tedious. This is my third baby, so I feel like I know quite a bit, I am just looking for some light and somewhat inspirational (from a birthing sense, not religious) books to read during my pregnancy. Thanks!

"Journey Into Motherhood"

Hi!

Here is a book you can start reading immediately, since it's available online (thanks to author, Sheri Menelli), there are some amazing stories, and it covers a wide range of birth settings.

Enjoy!

I liked Ina May's Guide to Childbirth better than Spiritual Midwifery. It's less dated. There's also a book called "The Baby Catcher" by Peggy Vincent. I read it during my last pregnancy and liked it.

I second Baby Catcher. I read that book first and really liked it. I also got DH to read it and it warmed him up to the whole HB thing!

Babycatcher is a great read.
Also, have you read through the birth stories here on MDC?

not about HB but definitely very inspirational :

the life within by Jean Hegland

i read it last week and it's just so beautifully and poetically written, many of the things she said had me close to trembling. also, it's not a long book, i think i almost read it in one sitting. so in that way, it's light...but it will leave you with many things to muse about for weeks to come.

i'm reading Ina May's guide to childbirth this week and loving it!
