I'm a mama!

We had our homebirth!

I went into labor last Saturday--I woke up with contractions 3 minutes apart. This after NO indications of my body doing anything to prepare for labor. Labor was 22 hours long, including 6 hours (omg!) of transition! I labored mostly in water, in the shower and the birth pool, and then pushed her out on the kitchen floor, in a dangling squat. She's 9 pounds, 20 inches, and I didn't tear at all!

Her name is Lucia Timourovna Sh***********, but we call her Lucy or Lucy Mae.

Look how cute she is! She's a fat little dumpling!

Breastfeeding has been really challenging. We think she might be tongue tied, and then on top of that, I've had borderline mastitis for a few days. Luckily my mom is staying with us, and she's an IBCLC, so she's helping a lot.

We're so happy! I'm a mom! And I DID IT!

What a juicy baby!!!!! Congrats momma Homebirths rock!!!

As for the feeding issue ~ sorry to hear about that ....we were having some issues w/ Noah too, very sore nipples...cracked & bleeding, ect. Not draining the breasts very well the first week. I called me Midwife & she suggested having him see a Chiropractor of all people ~never thought of that one myself. I figured tongue tied, ect......

Anyways ~ the Chiro. came to our house to do the EXTREMELY GENTLE adjustment on him & with in 3 days my nipples were healing!!!

I guess they are finding out that latch issues can be due to tightness in certain areas of the body as well.

Just thought I would toss that out there since I was having so many problems & crying during feedings & less then a week later we are completely better.

Hope the info helps you out some
