~April No-Spend Challenge~ We're tracking our spending and buying only the necessities. Come... - Page 22

Plan: record everything here (did Feb & March and it made a huge difference in my spending) and use the envelope system.

Grocery weeks:
March 29 - April 4: 99.00/100
April 5 - April 11: 99.50/100
April 12 - April 18: 56.00/100
April 19 - April 25: 92.00/100
April 26 - May 2: 78.00/100

Type of spending
= budgeted spending
= not budgeted spending
= no spend

What the $ was spent on
: = $ spent on groceries
or : = $ spent on baby or cat
= $ spent on me

4/1 - on : 10.00 for next week's fruit & veggie delivery
4/2 -
4/3 - on - dealing with terrible cold
4/4 - on : 1.95
4/5 - on : 89.50 eek, grocery budget is used up for the week - must stick to menu.
4/6 -
4/7 - on - 13.50
4/8 -
4/9 -
4/10 - on HAB supplies - still haven't really made a budget for this type of thing
4/11 -
4/12 - on - gift card
4/13 -
4/14 - on : 56.00
4/15 -
4/16 - 30.00 on kitchen wares to organize kitchen
4/17 -
4/18 - on : 17.00
4/19 - on : 64.00
4/20 -
4/21 - on : 11.00
4/22 - on house stuff - 20.00
4/23 - on - 4.75 on tea & treat at cafe with mama friends
4/24 -
4/25 - 60.00 on printer ink - stupid printer that will only print if there's ink in all the colours. I needed to print out forms for DS... at least the last bunch of ink lasted us a year. And on - 6.00 for decaf coffee to make at home - no $$ cafe drinks needed.
4/26 - on : 72.00
4/27 - on 2.00 for two used books at library and 2.00 for ice cream for DH and I.
4/28 - on 2.50 for three used books for DS
4/29 - on : 5.00
4/30 -

These challenges have changed my spending drastically. I've moved to a cash only system that has made a huge difference in the amount of things Ip pick up without thinking. My husband has also really gotten into the challenge of only spending $100 a week on groceries because whatever is leftover at the end of the week gets saved for our end of summer family vacation. A few days ago I even put a sale item that was not needed back on the shelf because it wasn't on the list and it wasn't something that I could stockpile.

Thanks again for starting these threads. I can't wait until May starts!

Oooh, good idea! I really want to take the kids to Disney, but really DON'T want to do it until/unless I've specifically saved up the cash for it. Maybe this method would work for me!

April was the month of slaying the parking ticket/library fine beasts, and conquering meal planning. Now May can be the month of getting the grocery budget under control...
