How do you carry stuff when you're out and about?

So DD is potty-learning and we are at the step where we are leaving the house in undies, which means I always need to have a change of clothes with me now. I have typically always put stuff in my pockets or a very small bag. But I'm obviously going to have to change that now. So how do I carry everything? Oh, FTR, we don't have a car so this isn't the type of situation where I can just leave stuff in the car or something. Are there places that sell bags or something that are easily worn/ carried while babywearing?

I was coming on here to ask the same question! I'm debating getting a backpack or a messenger bag. Just wondered if anyone has used either of these. I'm going to be carrying a newborn and hauling 2 toddlers, so I guess I'm wondering what will be easiest while using my sling (and keeping my hands free).

I use a child-size backpack.
Um, how on earth do you wrangle two toddlers and a newborn by yourself?

I have had the thought to sew a rope handle (like decorative curtain cording) to my sling tail, so I tell DD to hold onto that when I don't have a hand free for a moment.

I wear a sling style bag (long handle) over me and the baby going the opposite way from the sling!

I sewed a row of deep pockets in the tail on my sling. I can carry a lot in there. My wallet, keys, diaper, wipes, bottle of water, receiving blanket, etc. It's only when I take ds out of the sling that I even notice that there is good chunk of weight in those pockets (ie. the water!).

I have also used a backpack but do find it a little uncomfortable going over the shoulder that the sling is on - it wants to slip off all the time.

All I need with my 4 year old is a spare pair of panties, and snacks: apple and a peanut butter sandwich, usually. So I asked for a BEAUTIFUL messenger bag purse for my birthday and it is perfect for toting that small amount of stuff, while looking like a stylish purse instead of a diaper bag. I could definitely fit a whole toddler outfit in there without it looking too stuffed.

I find a messenger bag very comfortable with a wrap in a cross carry, which ought to be a lot like a sling, right? The bag part hangs behind me if my child is in front, and in front if my child is in back.

I also found a backpack very comfortable when I needed more things. I never felt like it was going to slide off because it was on both shoulders, and with a bigger diaper bag like that, I like having it on both shoulders to keep me even!

I've recently seen this, but don't feel the need to buy something just for this purpose: http://onbag.co.uk/

Would you happen to have a picture of this? I'm trying to envision it. Would love to see it to see if I could do something similar.

I use a tote bag, but I find it really annoying because it always falls off my shoulder. A messenger bag would probably work much better.
