since this is an autoimmune disease- aren't those with autoimmune diseases (autoimmune compromised) at higher risk getting vaccinations? just wanted to know since just found out my son has this. (though he is fully vaxed) but my DD is not and just trying to think ahead (though I sure hope she doensn't have this too) THANKS

Med. exemptions have to be signed by a doctor and are usually for just one vax and for the person in question, not relatives.

IMO, you'll be better off with a religious exemption for everyone.

I agree with the above posted and go with another exemption if possible in your state. Even though the auto immune problems can be worsened with vax many doctors will push vaxes harder because of it too. The say you're at greater risk of getting xyz disease so they push the vax.

Like pp said, medical exemptions only cover one vaccine and will be up for review every year. It's not worth anything.

A religious exemption is generally the easiest. No explanation needed. We can help you.

thank you--i didn't know a medical exemption was so complicated--it IS a religious exemption I'll get when the time comes--wow it's so stressful knowing you are going to have to (in our case we will for sure)--deal with people that are hard to deal with these things.

I posted in the tribe area to ask about a local ped who is delay vax friendly and haven't gotten responses--any other ideas?

I just went with the religious exemption. Religiously, I believe it is no one else's business what medical care my children nor I receive. I also believe that if you mess with the human body like that, you are messing with God and God has a way of showing us who is in charge.

Depends on the school district. My eldest has a medical exemption for the varivax, that has been in place since kindergarten, and it's never been questioned. The exemption is 6 1/2 years old.

One of the vaccines--Hep B, I think--doesn't take in people with celiac (whoops, make that untreated celiac).

Anyway, I'd go with the religious exemption as well.
