Info I should give bean's dad?

He agreed with me not to circ if it's a boy and I plan to give him something on care of the intact penis but is there anything else I should give him? I want this to be a surprise baby so no plans yet to find out the gender before birth. I also need something pretty dumbed down, easy for him to understand. This is his first child and all the things I talk about to him are greek to him.

I know that there are pamphlets out there, but if you're is anything like mine he will probably just watch you and do it like you.

I have made sure to mention "clean it like a finger, wipe base to tip" and "don't try to pull the skin back (retract)"

way to go convincing your DH! I know a lot of women struggle with that with their male partners.

I came across this site which seems to be designed for fathers.

I haven read all their info but what I did seems pretty good.

Tell him...If poop gets on the penis you can wipe like a finger. You don't wipe after urination this is totally unnecessary and could disturb the natural flora.

In the bath you just swish in water. You don't ever want to soak your child in soaps or bubble baths or use soap on the genitals. This goes for a girl or a boy. Soaps cause a flora imbalance and can lead to a possible yeast infection. I just let my son play in the water. After he is done playing I wash him with an organic baby shampoo and rinse immediately. (I like Avalon Organics Baby)

For you:
This is not foreskin related but good to know...
For both boys and girls yeast infections can happen during the diaper wearing years or after a round of antibiotics. This is has nothing to do with his foreskin but I thought I would address it anyway. Yeast is easily treated with an OTC anti-fungal cream. To avoid yeast infections you should always have give your child probiotics during and for one week after a round of antibiotics. You can get probiotic supplements from the pediatrician or from a health food store. They have some especially formulated for infants and babies. Probiotics are just healthy bacteria. Also, if you choose to cloth diaper you will want to strip your diapers with vinegar and hang them to dry in the sunlight if you ever get diaper yeast (thrush). Yeast can be quite hard to remove from cloth diapers. You will want to use sposies until the yeast on your baby is treated and all the diapers have been stripped.

Well he already knew I was against RIC. My DS is 3 and he has changed plenty of DS's diapers (he only wears them at night now). I watched him and explained stuff the first few times and eventually realized he listened. Haha. Anyways, so I guess after I told him I was pg he did his own research and agrees. I guess it paid off to make it known I'm not a fan of RIC since we got together and to involve him in changing DS's diapers. Hahaha. I should trust that he's learned, but better safe than sorry! Especially since I'll be ebf so the least he can do is change diapers!

Thanks! I will have to highlight the no soap thing. He's a freak and takes 1-2 hour showers and scrubs EVERYTHING including his penis. I swear, the amount of soap he goes through. He probably wouldn't think twice about soap on baby's penis, so I'll have to drill that one in.

And thanks for the yeast info, but I know ALL about that. DS and I got thrush REALLY bad and I learned about almost every treatment and preventative measure. Even after it was gone I always used vinegar in the rinse for his diapers and hung them out to dry (and plan to with this one as well - and this time CD from the get-go!).

So you don't clean the baby externally after a wet diaper?

I've never cleaned any kid I've changed. Well, 1 in 3 wet changes I clean, but that seems to correspond with poop. I would wipe dry with a diaper and maybe give an extra moment of airing out. I change girls like that too.

Ds's father was in his early 40s when DS was born. First child and he had absolutely ZERO experience with intact penises (or breastfeeding, co sleeping, cloth diapers, car seats... LMAO)
I made it very simple. "Do not pull it back- even a little, even if you think you should. Do not listen to what your parents say, or your friends, or the rest of your family, or people you meet on the street. Do not listen to doctors, or nurses, or EMTs. Do not listen to anyone but me. Period. The foreskin is never to be pulled back. It will rip the insides, even if he doesn't show pain. It's very likely to cause an infection"
Yes, I believe the conversation went something like that. It's worked so far :-) I highly doubt he would have paid attention to any stuff I printed out. He would have just figured it was written by weirdos like me and wrote it off. It had to be explained like that was the way it had to be done or he couldn't take him anywhere till after potty traning.
